2nd baby after 4th degree tearing

Hi, myself and DH are going to be ttc in the next few months, but i have the worse thought and dreams as with DS i tore badly as he was 10pounds. i did the whole natural labour with him only to end up in surgery with a spinal block in the end to be stitched back together and i would LOVE to have another natural but i am soooo worried about tearing again and worse :(

i am after advice, should i be worried? i was told after i had DS that the chances of another natural were slim but my friend who tore aswell has just had another natural and she tore just as badly as the first :(

I have just had my first bubba and also had 4th degree tearing...afterward i could see why people only had one bub!!! hahaha However some weeks later now, i am happy to admit that i will go for round 2 - eventually!

I was advised that due to the extent of the tearing i wont be able to have my second bub naturally and will have to opt for a c-section. I am personally 'ok' about this as i found the whole experiencing very traumatising this time round, however i highly recommend seeking different opinions about your options. I have been told by 2 obs and the surgeon on the night that a natural birth in the future is just not going to happen, however everyone's circumstances are different so i have my fingers and toes crossed for you that you can birth as you please :)

Can i ask, and please don't feel obliged to answer, how your recovery went with your first little man...i feel like i have a long road ahead of me sometimes...

Hey, no thats fine i am quite open about it even more if it will help someone :)
My recovering went smoothly it did take about 8 weeks before i as a person felt comfortable to try with my husband again but within 10 weeks i was fully and comfotably healed. i do sometimes at AF get a little sore sometimes but i was told thats to be expected adn it to will slowly decrease which it has :).

I had major tearing with my 1st child too. Same as you had the spinal block to get stitched up.

As it was a pretty traumatic experience (DS got stuck at shoulder and came out not breathing) I talked to my doctor about a c-section for this bub and he said just with the tearing alone it would be best if I did have a c-section this time around. To be honest I don't think I could go through a natural birth again so Im pretty happy to go ahead with a caesar this time.
I know it doesn't give you much info on having another natural birth but just wanted to share my story with you.

Hey Thanks Apes23 happy to hear anyones story and Suga i actually did think that aswell and i did want a water birth with my 1st but becaus ei had him in a hospital and my waters broke a few hours before he was born once the waters are broken your not aloud in there baths for hygiene reasons?? and im very much scared with the next baby as my 1st was born not breathing and had alot wrong with him so i would be far to scared to have a home birth :( but i will definetly look into a centre as i do no the mater have one i just dont no anything about it though so thank you very much :)

I have severe tearing after DD#1 I have had 3 vaginal births since with no worries.

I tore really badly due to:
#1. being put onto my back (I was young and didn't argue); and
#2. I didn't stop bearing down when bub was almost out and she came out with a lot of force.

With my other babies I tore with all of them, however it was minimal. I birthed without drugs and in an upright position. I plan to do even more this time around to prevent tearing altogether.

You can still birth vaginally :)
