Night feeds/sleep - opinions / suggestions please
Hi all
I'm just after some opinions or suggestions on what my next move should be.
I'm absolutely fine with what bubs is doing but am wondering if I'm missing something obvious
that may make it better!!;)
Background
Freddy is nearly 3 months old.
Good eater and sleeper and no probs like colic/reflux etc.
He is now fully formula fed.
From Day 1 we have had the routine in the evenings and nights as follows -
Bath - 6pm (ish)
Feed - after bath 6pm - 6.30pm
Down to bed - 7pm - 7.30pm
Feed - 10.30pm - 11pm, in the very early days (wks 0- 7 when fully breast feeding) he woke up for the feed since then I have been setting my alarm for 11pm and having to wake him for him to take this feed.
Sleep - Straight back down to sleep
Feed - 3-3.30am I kept this a small feed (90ml/ 3 fl oz) so as to encourage him to drop this one eventually (this feed has also been getting later)
Awake - 6-6.30am
Last few nights he hasn't been drinking the 11pm feed and leaving a majority
Two nights ago he had a little feed at 11pm and then slept til 6am without waking for his 3.30am feed.
(He has done 2 sleep throughs previously.)
This is where my question comes in - Last night I set my alarm as usual at 11pm but was extra tired yesterday and turn it off and went back to sleep thinking he would wake for the feed himself which would wake me up on the monitor anyway.
Next thing I know its 4am and hes waking me up for a feed, which he drank ALL of.
So he went from 6pm feed to 4am feed and he slep from 7pm til 4am.
Should I not wake him at 11pm and allow him to sleep through to 4am to feed?
I'm confused as I would have throught I would keep the 11pm feed and hoped he dropped the 4am one?
Anyone got any advice?
Oh and today after he did that last night he has fed really well all day which he hasn't really been doing.
Night feeds/sleep - opinions / suggestions please
It depends on how he growing and putting on weight, if he is ok let him sleep if he needs to put on some then think about waking him.
Dd1 was a premmie and we were advised by our pead to wake her up so she had a feed every four hours. Dd2 was good at putting on weight so we let her sleep through when she was ready.
