What are the "Amber Necklaces"?

I keep seeing these Amber Necklaces mention, just wondering what they are and how they help?

In my unexpert oppinion :) they are worn by teething children and babies to help relive symtoms of teething. they are natural amber, its been used as pain relief for years, someone will step in surely with the right details ;)

I just got one for DD, it arrived yesterday. Amber contains succinic acid (I think that's what it's called!) which as Partyof5 said has pain relieving qualities. They are supposed to assist with relief from teething pain and other things. If you have a look at amberbebe dot com, the FAQ's page has heaps of info on the necklaces and how the help relieve pain.
