She's having her first sleep over and this mummy is stalling...

I'm excited, don't get me wrong. Our first night ALONE together since our Moosh was born, and we're going to go out to dinner (when we decide where LOL) with a child. AHHHHHHHHHH it's gonna be so quiet!!!!!!!

But I'm a big bumbling ball of anxiety... we are dropping Moosh off later this arvo, and I'm so worried! What if SIL does this? What if SIL feeds her that? What if Moosh wakes up to realise we aren't there and gets really scared and upset? What if SIL doesn't listen to us and puts Moosh on a high bed without rails and she falls off and cracks her head open?
And etc (you get the idea :lol:).

I know I can just go and pick her up if she needs me BUT I know SIL won't ring even if Moosh is upset. She'd only ring if she was on her way to the hospital! It's good intentions, she wouldn't want to wake us up and all that but :o I'm so nervous!

I so want this night, we really need some couple time since we've not actually had any couple time, except for going to the Pink concert in August last year, since Jazz was born! We've never had a sit-down meal in a restaurant without her.

But I'm so nervous! I need some mummy reassurance! It's not leaving her that is worrying me, since I leave her every week day to go to work for 9 hours. It's just, a WHOLE night. And I just don't want her to be scared without us! What if she needs cuddles and what if SIL sleeps through her waking up?

HELP! Advice and wisdom! Freaking out here!

Hey Leash. You're going to have a wonderful night and Moosh is going to be just fine. Just make it clear to SIL that you don't mind being woken up no matter what time if bubs wakes up scared during the night.

My little Moo is only 9 months so I don't have any pearls of wisdom for you unfortunately! But I just wanted to say that I'm sure everything will be fine - though I can understand being worried about leaving Moosh for the first time.

Hugs hun no advice for you as I haven't been game to do it either (apart from in hospital to have DS2 but DH was home everynight).

hannanat, my sinuses puffed up HUGE and were really gross but a hot shower and a nasal spray seemed to sort it out overnight. I was well enough to work yesterday anyway lol.

LOL feeb I'm sure she'll have a ball. Argh sometimes being a mum is so hard! Any other day and I'd be saying "oh for goodness sake can't I eat one meal/have one night sleep in piece" but tonight I bet I'll be sitting there at the restaurant and then laying there in bed worrying!

I know the feeling - its terrifying! I remember after I dropped DD#1 off at my sisters for my first night away from her - I cried for almost an hour! not good when youre trying to get ready for a really important work dinner... anyway, she was 20 mths then - and she survived. :) She was happy as larry when we went to pick her up in the morning - and it was soooooooo nice to have a nice meal and a good sleep (well, we didn't really sleep that well ;) )

Have a lovely time! Can you ask SIL to text you at certain times so you aren't anxious? theres nothing worse than sitting at dinner with your partner and constantly checking your phone for messages!

:hug: Can you say to SIL that even though you know she is more than capable for your sake can she please send you a text message every once in a while of what Jazz is up to. It might just put your mind at ease. If she is super nice she might send you a picture by text. Tell her you would enjoy your night so much more just by knowing what she is up to. :hug:

I cant help you out because I have never left any of my kids overnight yet. Not even with Dh lol Even though Im sure they would be absolute angels, sleep through the night and I will worry over nothing. My first test will be leaving them with Dh for the june long weekend.........

Enjoy your night, my advice is to pack any favourite toys, blankets and night lights or mobiles to make it as easy for everyone as you can.

I'm sure she will be fine Leasha, but if you are really worried why not make a contingency plan to pick her up after dinner if she is still awake. If she is asleep go catch a movie after dinner and ENJOY yourself! (Hard I know if you are worried). If it makes you feel better, call your SIL every hour to check in. Hey if it all works out you could make this a regular thing to look after each others kids once a month or so, so you can have couple time. Good luck and I don't want to see you on chat tonight! ;)

I sympathise with you Leasha, we are leaving our DD for her first overnight next weekend and I am dreading it too.

Well, we just dropped her off.

We tried to get her for a hug but she held on tight to SIL and when we hugged her she squirmed and ran away. I think she thought we were trying to take her home! So she is fine. We are home. SO quiet! I cried... of course I did! I'm still crying...
I'll be fine soon, I promise!

Meanwhile, Jazz is probably watching her cousins ride their horse and drive the go cart or shes chasing the dogs around. Geez, what kid WOULDN'T want to stay there overnight! It's practically kid paradise!
