My 11 week old DD had taken to filling her nappy each and every time she has a feed! Only its a green colour. Kind of swamp green:redface: :p
I have started block feeding her the past 5 days and that doesnt seem to be doing anything.
What could be making her do this and should i be worried? Maybe take her to the gp?
Mama_skittle, that must be confusing for you. Green poo is not really a worry in itself. It is a sign that the poo is moving through the system quickly - but then so is a poo at every feed LOL! This is often associated with extra lactose from oversupply but can also be related to a tummy bug, temporary lactose intolerance after a tummy bug, food allergies, or maybe none of the above. Whether or not it is a problem really depends on whether there are any other signs - eg unsettledness, pain etc. If there are no other issues then I wouldn't worry about it, most likely it will settle down shortly.
If there are other signs and you can't figure out the cause - eg she hasn't had a tummy bug recently, then you might like to try and ease it. Block feeding is one of the ways to do this. How long are you feeding from the same side for? How often is she feeding? Sometimes spacing feeds works better when lactose overload is the cause, but most of the time demand feeding is still better. How have your DD's weight gains been? How many feeds is she having in 24 hours? There are lots of bits of information that help you to know what is going on, and sometimes you never figure it out!!

I know how worrying this is, as we went through it recently with our youngest. Only, he had just had a minor op, and it turned out to be infection, which came to the surface after 6 days of pooing like that (grass green! It looks interesting, hey?). Our paed said that frequent green poo is a sign of infection. If it's something out of the ordinary for your DD, and you can't think of anything feeding-wise that has changed, maybe you could get her checked out to make sure it's nothing medical. Given that it's a Sunday, you could always call one of the helplines, like the MCHN one and see what they think.
