Breastfeeding and TTC
Hi everyone,
I have another question, relating to TTC and breastfeeding. I plan to stop breastfeeding at 6 months to get my cycle back so we can try again for #3.
However I have heard that by dropping the overnight feeds, or cutting out some of the evening feeds, that this could cause your prolactin levels to drop enough to kick start your cycle again.
I guess I was hoping I would be one of those women who would get AF and be ovulating while breastfeeding so I didn't have to give up the breastfeeding. My ideal would be to do at least the morning feeds if my cycle came back.
Any ideas on what I could do? Thanks again x

This is a common dilemma hun  Unfortunately there is no way of knowing when your cycles will return, and whether or not dropping night feeds will work for you. But as you have heard, the chances of your cycle returning when you stop feeding at night do increase. Especially after the 6 month mark, as solids replace some milk, so the quantity of breastmilk does gradually reduce from 6 months on. This also increases your chances. However with twins I would suspect it's more likely that AF will be delayed for longer - but then it's not an exact science.
It can't be an easy decision to make  Perhaps you could see how you go at 6 months and then decide? Also weigh up how you will feel if you wean early and don't fall pg straight away. There are a lot of things to think about - I wish you all the best with making the decision
