I have a painful boil on my face next to my nose. I noticed it this morning and thought it was just a blind pimple but over the course of today it has gotten bigger and more painful. My whole face hurts from my nose to my ear, i think it has inflamed to my sinuses.
Does anyone have anyone have any boil remedies?
hot poultice? You can get boil packs from pharmacies - there's a pharmacy in Mountain Gate which is open till 9pm, they are really good.
Heat packs to draw it out and then when it has a pustule drain it :) It's really the only way. Just make sure whatever you use to break the skin is sterile, and do not break the skin until it has a pustule as sometimes they can go away with heat as well. If its REALLY big you'll have to do it at a Dr, to make sure it's not more than one.
They are awful I have had one with each of my pregnancies in a very bad spot up on my thigh.
This might seem really strange, but I use bonjela to help with the pain. It seems to bring the head out as well.

Owies Tinks. Last time I had an evil whopper like that I swore not to touch it (it was way too sore to touch anyway) and it never came to a head. About 4 weeks later and lots of masks I was able to get the core out like a blackhead.
Ok dumb q. What's a boil and how do you tell ther difference from a pimple?
Boils are bigger and deeper than pimples. They're more painful too.
+ a boil is caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus - unfortunately i know TOO WELL about these horrible things :o:
ETA: Tinks - use a hot (as hot as you can stand it!) compress for 10-15 mins at a time this will help draw it to a head and ....like Rouge said whatever you use to pierce it, make sure it is sterile. once drained, cover with a bandaid to aid healing and minimise infection to surrounding area from the draining pus......
Thanks ladies. It's really painful today. I've been doing hot compresses but no head as yet. I just want to squeeze the bejeezus out of it.
When it gets a head does it just look like a giant pimple?

Did anyone see on YouTube the clip that went around of the worlds biggest zit? It wasn't a zit/pimple but a type of boil (can't recall the proper name). Ewwww!
