Aldi nappies - now poor quality!

I have been using aldi nappies for a year and they have been great. My son drinks a lot of water and they have never leaked. I really loved the quality and price.

I just bought a new packet on Monday and noticed that the nappies had changed. The are thinner, both the outside width and the inner lining with the animal print all over instead of just on the front. Now they leak every night. I am so furious. Aldi nappies were the best but now they have gone to zero with the new ones. Very fustrating. Now i have to go buy huggies.

I find the woolworth's (safeway in other states) select ones to be very good - better than Huggies and WAY cheaper. Maybe try those?

dont say that!!! there the only ones that dont leak here either :doh: dont bother with huggies as they leak too

I noticed you have a 1yr old, Have you looked at MCN's (modern cloth nappies) they're HEAPS easier than the old terry flats... trust me, they have to be real easy for me to use them!!! There are threads here for you to browse if you want to find out more ;) I've bought heaps of seconds & second hand mcn's & they're just as good as new (to save money).

Anyway, I just thought I'd mention it... I wish someone had told me about them when I had DD! I cant stand having to buy disposables on the occasions I do cause they cost so much these days!

Good luck finding a nappy (cloth or disposable) that works for you... there are plenty to choose from thats for sure!

Yup. We use them at work and they are nowhere near as good as they were. They used to feel all lovely and cushiony and soft. Now they just fel papery and rubbish.

Try the Coles brand nappies (the green pack - it's the newish ones with gumnut babies on them)

Cheaper and BETTER than huggies. I have a major wetter overnight (just over 2) and these are THE ONLY ones that will hold them in.

We swapped over from Aldi as well - they were crap

Sorry to hear that.. I still use them and find them just as good. I went up a size and it made a big difference.

I noticed that they changed them about a month ago, but we haven't had any problems here.........thank goodness! I tried a Huggies nappy on DS1 not so long ago and it was rubbish. Not sure what we'd use if our beloved Aldi nappies didn't work :lol:

I was so worried when I read this thread.

I have a pack of the new aldi nappies... Sam was in one from 10am this morning through until he had his bath at 7pm. I just wanted to see how long it would go without leaking... it didn't.

I grabbed an old one from the nappy bag and as far as I can tell they are exactly the same in terms of size and thickness. Perhaps a bad batch?

I had a bad batch of the new ones the other day - the tops weren't sealed properly and the stuffing was falling out. Took them back and exchanged them for an old style pack. But today I could only find new ones.... so we will see how they go. Maybe if a few of us have problems we should all complain? The old ones were brilliant surely if enough people complain they might go back to the old ones?

I have found the new ones thinner and DS did have a leak the first night he wore them, none since then. He only wears one to bed now so a pack lasts over a month thankfully.

If you don't like the Aldi ones any more then try the baby love. Heaps better than snugglers or huggies and still cheaper. Not as many in a packet as Aldi but they are still good value

we have x4 kids... 4 years and under with x3 in nappies and have always had the three boys in aldi nappies. Aldi's pullups for our 4 year old are crap too so I just buy the HAFU extra large pullups from nappy land and they are so much better! They are even better than drynites IMO... and that's saying something!

My husband thought I was going mad when I said to him that they had changed the weight. So out came my postage scales and sure enough a 0.5 GRAM difference!! Not to mention the YUK cover on them now.

So we are paying the same price for basically nappies that are CRAP IMO. Note - this is so far in the crawler nappies. I haven't seen their new design come out in the other sizes yet.

IMO they just don't last overnight like their predecessors. It they are going to change the toddler and junior nappies to the same crap quality they won't be having my business period - I too am very annoyed!

I've already been to nappyland in our area and their factory seconds premium seem to have the same weight as the older aldi nappies. If you buy a couple boxes of nappies they offer free delivery, but i'm not sure if they are australia wide... I am in Melbourne. So my next buy will be 4 boxes of nappies - from crawler for our 4 month old, junior, toddler and the hafu pullups... so lost business for aldi!

After having the kids so close together and dealing with nappies for the last 4 years consecutively take it from me... aldi have been slowly removing absorbancy from their nappies bit by bit. I've tried alot of nappies out there and they 'were' the best value for money.... not anymore! I hope someone from Aldi is gathering all these 'product' reviews too...

I work for a company that produces nappies for one of the major brands.

Did you know that the thickness of a nappy little nothing to do with its absorption? A nappy contains fluff, like cotton wool, which provides the bulk and thickness, however it has very little performance capabilities. What absorbs fluid are the crystals inside the nappy. They are just like the water crystals you put in the garden, and can hold up to 50 times their weight in fluid. They are also more expensive than fluff. Using these crystals also means you can take out fluff but have just as much absorption. You may notice Huggies did this a few years back, and Pampers nappies are really thin - both because of this technology.

Not sure about the Aldi ones, but pampers are great and I just got a 40 pack of 12kg+ for $8, so I bought 6 packs !! :)

I only use Aldi nappies and have been using their version of 'pull-ups' for DD1 and haven't had an issue, the newer one does feel thinner but i have had no issue with absorbency.
I did find however as they seemed 'thinner' i had to be more aware of the inner elastic and make sure it was pulled right for the girls, if i left it i had slight leaks.
My girls are big on #2's and if they ever leak it's on a pooslposion and i've had no issues.

Wow pandora what a score! Where did you get them from?

I used to use aldi nappies too but switched to baby love for the same reason - they are not as good anymore. Now I use babylove cause I can get them in the bulk boxes but I have tried the gumnut babies Coles ones and they were great too.
