My partner and I are wanting to try to conceive our 2nd child later this year HOWEVER my DP is wanting to start doing a course next year that will cut his work hours down quite a bit so basically i need to find a way of getting some money in while looking after my 4 year old.
I have visted all thos work at home job websites and get very discouraged and confused.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what i can do?

Westy- thats a good idea:) Sarah you can make a lot of money doing 'parties' 4 a company. You cna take kids along, depending on the client or they are night jobs so babies can stay home with dad;)
I did body shop when Annabelle was a baby:) Also its all cash;)

Sarah- Just to comment on the Tupperware suggestion, I have tried Tupperware, I did it for 4 months and with all the training and meetings you are expected to go to , plus the fact that you can't really take your kids to parties and or the meetings I would probably stay away from this one. If I was single and had heaps of time on my hands I'm sure I could have made a go of it but if you have a hubby that is working at all and don't have major family support it is a really tough one to do.
I would love to hear any other ideas too cause like you I've tried looking at most things.
Thanks guys. I will look into "parties" i am always unsure about those as i dont know many people who would want them done (friends etc) or if the company organises them not me but will deffinetly look in to it.
Body shop parties would of been fun

What is your skillset? Work that out and go from there. You may be able to start your own home business. For example I have a finance background was able to provide bookkeeping for small business. So what skills do you have that can translate?
If you go into party plan is does pay to have someone around who can babysit. Very hard to do a party when your little one is trashing someone's house ;)
why not look in to becoming a family day carer?
I've looked into Family Day Care its a pretty good one to do. Means doing a tiny bit to your house like child locks etc to make sure its safe, and it's not a million dollars a week, but when I worked it out it was enough to make a big difference. I would have been doing it if I hadn't decided to go back to uni.

I have done party things but if u dont know alot of people like me its quite hard to get parties or even ppl to buy if things are exspensive....
Very interested in ideas.
On the daycare note, it can be exspensive to set up most companies supply u with the money to start out and u have to pay it back as u earn the money but once again like the last comment noted u have to change ur home and yard to suit children. (i've thought about doing this but my house is waaay to small, u have to pretty much have a dedicated room for it)
I am actually qualified to be a childcare worker but was finding it hard to afford childcare just so i could work in childcare. I also cant do family day care as i live in a rental property.
I do family daycare and know of a few people who do it also who live in a rental property!! It actually makes a part of your rent tax deductable as you are using it for your business!! Honestly something to look into if you are qualified in childcare!! In qld the government actually gives grants to help you set up for family daycare, could be all states you should look into it!!!
You can do family day care in a rental property as long as its ok with the landlord;) James would benefit soooo much from being at home with all those other kids! I have heard great things from adults that grew with a mother family day carer;):
I dont really want to be running a family day care at this present moment. We are constantly moving in and out of rentals will only be in our current property for only a few more months. Im sorry I seem to be very picky dont I, lol. i guess there is a part of me that just wants someone to say "here do this for me at home and i will pay you" (Soooo not going to happen, haha) I want to be completely happy/ content with this career or job i will be doing so i will stick to it. It is so hard to think of it let alone expect strangers to answer it for me but i figure you guys might think of something i havent. I am very thankful.
Could you go and work somewhere at night time, like a night fill job, a know a few people who work from about 8pm till midnight!!!
But then i would never see my partner. Im sorry i am not making this easy for any one, sorry

i am only new to the site. I found the thread looking to find threads on other mums who work from home. I have a 3 yr old and a 2 year old and in both pregnancies was fired from my job positions - when they found out i was pregnant. I had no choice but to opt for working from home as i had no income for both of those periods. I currently do some body shop at home and a little Avon. i went for them because I used the products myself so it was good to be able to order it direct myself. It ended up being really good as i used to be so shy and quiet and gradually i learnt to be confident, some people dont have good experiences like i did though. Avon was a lot of leg work but body shop was great and the at home parties were fun and easy money! but its great if you just need a little extra cash to boost the funds that seem to go no where these days.
