I'd play it on the safe side - I agree with everything Loula said about what not to eat. Plus I wouldn't eat rice from anywhere but home where it's been freshly made. Ceaser Salad Dressing is a big no - as are any eggs except those cooked right through (no poach eggs, no loose scrambled).
If you google, you will find a lot of information put out by hospitals or state agencies here in Oz and around the world. Some of the more surprising things on these lists (and they are not internet rumors but put out be respectable health organizations) are - I'm copying this from a PDF flyer I found while googling and saved to my desktop:
- Bean Sprouts - any kind - Don't eat raw or cooked (I thought they were OK cooked until I read this and like Loula said, I worried for days...not worth it)
- all left over meats etc. should be eaten within a day of cooking and re-heated until piping hot throughout
- no brie, Camembert, ricotta, feta, blue, unless in a fully cooked dish (i.e., spinach and ricotta cannelloni)
- processed cheese, cottage cheese, cream cheese - store in fridge - eat within 2 days of opening package
- custard - don't eat unless heated until steaming hot
- NO pre-prepared or pre-packaged salads (i.e., from salad bars, smorgasbords).
- your own salad - wash and dry well and store in fridge - eat within a day of making. With all the salad rules, i just find it easier not to eat salad and only eat cooked veggies - or say a carrot that I wash and peel at the time I want to eat it.
- parsley - don't eat raw! i now hate when it is used as a garnish
- stuffing from chicken or poultry - don't eat unless cooked separately (outside of the bird) and eat hot
My very respected OB said that I should take the "food rules" very seriously. He says listeria etc. is rare, but it is terrible and he sees a few cases every year that cause miscarriage, stillbirth or very premature delivery - none of which are worth a salad or two.
I have no idea what devon or bung fritz is - sorry (am curious though!)
ps - Loula, I too won't eat salad unless I made it myself...even my MIL's too!
