lick/dribble rash !! [advice]

Evening people!!

Just after your advice about DS's lick/dribble rash (can't think of a better word to describe it) basicaly just under his lip he has a red/rash/rough area which started as a small patch and seems to have spread right under his lip and is starting to go down his chin. I did notice today he seems to be licking it alot (I am surprised his tounge reaches that far :D ) and he is also sucking his whole lip. He also seems to be scratching it.
I have tried to put cream and breastmilk on it but he doesn't like me putting anything on it.

So what do you think? should I be taking him to the dr's or is there a special cream that might work?

My neice used to do that, she would constantly lick and she had this massive rash under her mouth and around her lips.

My SIL just used vaseline on it and worked a treat.

What we thought to be dribble rash on our DS turned out to be a form of eczema (it started around his mouth and then spread to his chin and torso). the only reason why I am mentioning this is that you mentioned it appears to be spreading and that it may be itching - which is causing him to lick it. I wouldn't use any petroleum-based creams on it because that will just further dry it out and may irritate it. Try and find a natural moisturiser like MooGoo or Grahams Calendula cream and pop that on. You can then use some olive oil as a barrier cream and apply it as frequently as necessary. If it continues to spread, I would get a professional to take a look at it. I can kick myself for assuming it was just dribble rash and leaving DS's to the point that it was all over his chest before I did something about it :( Good luck

I always used nappy rash cream or pawpaw ointment on it and that always cleared it up quickly.
