Cut her toenail in half...
My little accident prone moosh, takes after me
She was helping us set the table, and dropped a plate on her foot! Silly moosh! It hit her middle toe, and bracked it in half. Not vertically, but horizontal (to the nail bed). She has about 2mm of nail from the nail bed and then the nail was cracked and is hanging on by a really small bit of nail.
She did this last night. We bathed it, got some Savlon onto it (it's all we had at the time), bandaid then sock, and she was fine. Very very brave! She slept all night, and doesn't really notice it except to put her foot in our lap and say "Ouchy!". When she saw SIL today she proudly held her foot up and said "Ouchy!" and pointed to her toe.
Anyway, we bought some betadine (well, chemist own brand, same active ingredients) at the advice of our pharmacist. Tonight we gave her a bath thinking it might help the nail fall off... but it hasn't! It isn't looking bruised or red or anything, in fact the only way you can tell is that the nail looks whiter, but it's like its stuck? Last night Jazz had just about pulled it off (yes, pulled as in had the nail between her fingers and was playing with it. Crazy kid!). But now it doesn't move at all!
I'm worried it might get infected underneath? Should we be taking her to the GP to get it taken off, or just wait and only take her if it starts to look infected or hurt her?
