Breastfeeding clothes...what's your thoughts?

Hello everyone,

Just thinking about something today and thought who better to get opinions but all the members on BB.

So just wondering what's your thoughts on BF clothes available?

I love dressing up & wearing different things all of the time but am finding my wardrobe really restricted by BF. The clothes made for BF are actually not that nice looking and expensive...does anyone else think this?

If a funky decent range of BF clothes was available at an affordable price would you purchase more items?

agree with u totally! i live in the bonds bumps tops for ease of use. i have a breastfeeding dress which i love but cost me an absolute fortune!!
theres heaps of beautiful dresses out there for when your pregnant, but at nearly 200 a pop i dont think my summer wardrobe will be full of them!

I dunno, I didn't even buy maternity clothes because I hated the fact that you can only use them for a certain period of time then you have to put them away til the next bub!

I guess if it's something you can wear afterwards... TBH I've never even laid eyes on any BF clothes! What is different about them?

Never used them... I wore all my normal clothes, if it was cold I put a singlet on underneath or a Bump Hugger.
Lifted my top, dropped the bra and away I went!
The only thing I found restrictive was I couldn't wear dresses, but I am not a big dress wearer anyway lol

totally agree with you Erin! i love that the BF tops are really practical BUT they tend to be butt ugly and cost alot lol. i lived in the fertile mind BF singlet tops and would just put a nicer/warmer top over it when i was going out. i had 3 proper BF tops, but TBH they were so ugly that i didnt bother with them that much...but gosh they were simple to use...just slide the fabric across as opposed to unclicking straps iykwim.

I would definitely buy more if nicely designed, good fabric and affordable. i am so bored with what i have. If it is nice then i would continue to wear it after i stop bf anyway. I have looked at heaps of online places and they are too expensive or too baggy or just plain ugly. I do not want the tops that are also used for pregnancy as then the belly part is too baggy for me. i have been looking for stretch knit cross over tops or dresses at the op shops all the time to go over the bonds singlet. Have three dresses and it just makes me feel better to get up and dressed and look nice.

I'm talking about tops with bits that pull up so just get your boobies out or straps that drop down, that sort of thing, or dresses that you can feed in.

I agree they are ugly & expensive....I also have only bought 2 singlets and then just go with the drop down of my own singlet of lifting up of my tops. But I wear lots of tighter tops and they are not easy to lift up, or some of my jumpers and i get all knotted up. I guess it depends on what you like to wear.

Was just wondering if there was a nice range of tops, dresses etc that were decent looking, easy to feed in & affordable would people buy them. When say decent looking I mean designed better than a bit that lifts up across the middle of a top that everyone can clearly see is for BF LOL! So could be worn for all occasions but targeted at BF, IYKWIM??? Anywho just something that got me thinking, thanks for the replies.

Yep, have to agree, most are hideous and far too exxie. Also agree about the blatantly obvious BF tops too - same as the ones with thin straps but very obvious drop-cup clasp (just like a bra).
I'm in my third year of BF and I've never owned on piece of specifically BF clothing. At first I was a bit scared of dresses too, but if you find them with the right kind of neckline, it's no prob at all. Same as Shazz I find stretchy v-ncks far comfier and easier.

I never bought breastfeeding clothes either. I did grab a couple cheap maternity tops on clearance at Big W here & there though.
With BFing, I just wore low cut tops, or a singlet & tshirt. I just pulled it down. I still can't wear tops that don't come down though, lol, coz DS always needs his hands down there for comfort :rolleyes:
I want to get some of the bonds singlets this time though. They look comfy.
