More milk on one side?
Hi!
I have been breastfeeding for 8 weeks now. Overnight it seems that my left breast isn't filling with milk like the right. At P's 4am feed my right was quite firm but my left was soft? Has anyone got any idea?
I still offered both thinking if it needs to make more milk then I need to feed from it! But I don't know whether this is normal or if I need to be worried or not?
Can anyone help or reassure me?
Thanks!

Hi
Don't worry if your breasts don't feel 'full' - your supply will be settling down from now, and it's quite normal. They make milk on demand and dno't need to fill up before you feed anyway.
It is also very common for one side to make more than the other. It is usually the right side that makes more, for some reason (I was the same). I wouldn't worry about it - you will still make as much millk as your daughter needs.

Thanks! That makes me feel a bit better. I kinda had a slight panic when it felt 'empty' at her 4ams feed!

Marni, offer the left side first and once she's finished, go to the right. That's what I do and it seems to balance it out a bit better.
But generally it's this stage that your boobs always feel soft despite having the milk to feed your bubba xxx

like PP have said you won't feel as 'full' now cause your body is producing what is being 'demanded'
I too was a bit lopsided and one side was bigger and had more flow then the other :dunno: didn't seem to make much of a difference to DS :D
