brushing my hair and...
HI
I wasn't sure exactly where to put this...so hopefully its in the right place.
But has anyone else experienced this before??
Basically while I brush my hair my arm looses blood circulation.
i always brush my hair with my hair with my right arm. And it has happened randomly a few times over the last few years but over the last week it has happened EVERY day i brush my hair...
First it gets painful...then if i don't stop and take a break for a minute or so, my arm goes cold...swells like there is no venous supply and even changes colour and goes purple.
I then have to stop, and shake my hand or rotate my shoulder etc for it to go back to normal.
Its like my arm cant be at that angle.
has anyone else had this problem????
I dont know if my other arm does it, because i cant brush my hair with that arm (just doesnt feel right =P )

I think i'd go visit a Dr if I were you

Possibly indicative of very low blood pressure? Do you have any fatigue problems?
Hmmm, I agree with Teagz, get thee to a doctor!

 I'm no medical type. But it does sound like a blood pressure thing. It might be something you can easily fix, so I'm with the others in saying to see your GP.

Could be compression of the blood vessels supplying the arm caused by tightness in the 'thoracic outlet' - the area between the neck and the collarbone. It is a very small space where a lot of nerve and blood vessels pass as well as a whole lot of muscles and other tissues. When people have tightness in this area (- often caused by forward head posture) it squeezes the vessels, both nerve and blood (a bit like what happens in carpel tunnel if you are familiar with that). It is exacerbated when you raise your arm over your head as that squeezes the area more and when you brush your hair it can compress the area more again due to the fact that you are using the muscles in the area.
A physio, osteo, chiro or a good massage therapist (think Myotherapist or Remedial Massage therapist) should be able to work out what is going on, and if there is another underlying thing, they should be able to recognise that also.

I find I get that when I haven't been sleeping well - ie I'm jammed into the bed with a child on either side so I've slept on the one shoulder all night.
And wot Jackrose said...
-
Yeah, I ditto what Jackrose said - will that make me look as intelligent as her?

Hmm, no B. Maybe if you didn't use the word ditto....maybe find some really loooong word that sounds better  ya dag
