Any suggestions to help morning sickness?????PLEASE

Im 6 weeks preg with my third baby and each pregnancy morning sickness has gotten worse!
Im throwing up all day on and off some times i can keep food down other times not so good.
feel like a drama queen but just moving around the house trying to do the everyday things exhausting and just feel sicker and sicker!
its hard for us to get pregnant and have tried for quite a while for this baby lost one along the way so im extremly excited to be pregnant! so im not complaining its kind of reasuring to be sick feels like all must be going ok in there but if anyone has any tips that helped them with there sickness would really love to hear them

Eat little bits often. Thats what I had to do with DS. I found savoury things were easier to keep down. As strange as it sounds as long as I had something very little in my tummy the sickness wasn't so bad...

I'm not sure how this would work with the throwing up element of the m/s but my naturopath said B6 can help, 50mg a day unless really bad and then you can take 100mg.
Fruit tingles help with the ick and nausea, pretty sure that won't help with vomiting though.
The health food shop recommended the nausea under the tongue spray by Martin & Pleasance.
I hope it eases for you very very soon.

I got MS really bad with both girls. I ended up getting medication from my dr to help it. It was AWESOME!

ms tablets do work, i am keeping myself from vomiting by sipping fizzy drinks i know it might sound silly but it has helped me and i found out through my mum and her mum lol. when the fizzy drinks stop working i will be one ms tablets i had them DS2 and kept my sickness at bay. what made my sickness worse of all things was water! specially when trying to drink alot for scans and ended up bringing the water back up! so i still drink water but try to drink coridal which is mainly water with a dash of cordial, and juice. and only sip fizzy stuff when the ms starts kicking in, im only 46kgs so i can afford to loose much weight from not being able to eat.

Blackmore's morning sickness tablets - every 8 hours; eating small amounts often, only eat what you want, forcing yourself to eat what you don't want will make it worse; sea bands; the nausea spray (although um, it made me throw up, spray it in water first!), burning ylang ylang or lavender oil; lying down; bit of rocking and humming when nausea is really bad; sniffing a lemon (sounds bizarre but while your doing it nausea disappears completely; sipping lemon water AND maxolon tablets (I took half instead of the whole, cos that way I had the choice to take the other half in 4 hours or not). Some days, 2 or 3 of those things would get me through the day and night, sometimes I needed all of them.

I just asked DH what his tips were, and he said for the Daddy to be to never get comfortable cos you'll have to get up to get your partner something. And say ''it's ok'' a lot. He thinks he's amusing ;)

I suffered MS or hyperemisis until 36 weeks, it sucked. Obviously I was medicated with some great stuff once the maxalon made me all weird :D but a few of the things I was told are helpful were peeled green apples and potato chips. I found the apples were the only thing (no exageration) that stayed down for the first 20 weeks. The potato chips are meant to ease the tummy, no idea why :dunno: after about 30 weeks, hot chocolate and fruit tingles stayed down too.

You are certainly not complaining either, being sick is awful and you have every right to be looking for ways to combat it :hug: Good lukc hun, hope you are feeling much better soon x

Congratulations on the pregnancy :), my suggestion is seabands. You can get them from the pharmacy. They are wrist bands you can wear all day which decrease or get rid of nausea by pressing on acupuncture points. (They work for travel sickness, morning sickness, hang overs, food poisoning nausea - any type of nausea). They worked for me, that and getting more sleep. I found exhaustion added to my MS symptoms... but with other children to look after - more sleep is probably not really going to happen for you ;)

The thing I love about the band is that it is a natural approach and can be used with other suggestions above - trying a few suggestions at once might really help you if the MS is bad.

Apparently there is a pressure point in between your thumb pointer which the acupunturist puts a little needle into and it can stay in until the MS subsides. You might want to google it or talk to a pro to get all the facts but i'm a big fan of going natural before the drug option.

Vitamin B6 is said to be really good. I got maxalon from my doctor and it was awesome! also i found having sugary drinks helped me.

You are so right, it absolutely is! I used acupuncture and had a friend eat her first decent meal in weeks after her first acupuncture session for morning sickness - she said she got a huge craving for a huge meal right in the middle of the session!!

The nausea point is on the inside of the wrist - between the tendons, about 3 finger widths down from the wrist crease. (It is where the seaband sits). You can try pressing the point yourself to see if it makes a difference - try to find a little bit of a divot there and press. The anti-nausea magic will work for as long as you keep pressure (hence the band!)

The point between the thumb and finger should not be used in pregnancy as it is a very strong point and is used for pain relief and for inducing labour. It's great when you are 38 weeks + but not in early pregnancy. A Chinese Doctor will know this and will steer you in the right direction.

Wow thankyou for all the replys and suggestions will definatly give them a go see what works for me. tried the fizzy drink last night before i read it hear and it was funny to see it suggested cause it did help as strange as that is small amount off fizzy helped me to get some water down after it, Strange ?

I really feel for you. I'm so grateful that I have 2 weeks holidays now because I would be lost without them. Before this my MS was so bad I had to take two weeks off work. The vomitting itself I can handle but it's the non-stop nausea that really gets me down. I've tried everything and the best thing I've found is to eat constantly (I have a little dinner roll with cheese almost every hour) It's been weeks since I had a proper meal (or salad or vegetables) but I eat what I can handle without forcing myself. My doctor told me this was OK- not ideal for me but that the baby would be just fine.
DH has been an angel, finally learning how to cook because I won't go near the kitchen. I actually went to the doctor and got some Maxolon but wasn't impressed with it so I haven't been taking it. I found it didn't stop the nausea, all it did was allow me to predict when I would vomit (five hourse exactly after I'd taken a tablet) other women find it helpful though so I wouldn't disount it and I will probably give it another go when holidays are up and I have to go back to work.
Keep trying different things and don't feel bad if you need medication to get through. MS is absolutely horrid and if men had it then there'd be a known cause (other than pregnancy obviously) and cure by now.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I only have three weeks left before things start improving.

I found green apples helped (and I hate green apples raw!) Ginger Ale helped too, I can't remember if it was cans or the bottles, I think it was cans that helped and not the 1 ltr bottle. Sea Sickness bands helped too. They only came off for a shower and even then I would sometimes forget to take them off. Them combined with some water crackers or the green apple, were the only thing that helped me to get DD to school of a morning. :)

I have access to online medical journals so here is some info. from a journal article. Penny Sheehan is an obstetrician and Head, Maternity Care Program, and Clinical Research Fellow, at the RWH Melbourne.

Outcomes have improved with intravenous rehydration therapy........
Consequences include decreased quality of life, time off work and secondary depression. [I'm sure you already know that]

DISCUSSION: It is important to exclude other causes of nausea and vomiting such as urinary tract infection and thyrotoxicosis. Assessment of severity by checking for ketones is important as severity determines management. Management will include rehydration (intravenous or oral). Evidence is lacking regarding dietary and lifestyle recommendations but some women find them useful. Pyridoxine [which is Vitamin B6] and metoclopramide (category A) are first line in treatment of hyperemesis gravidarum followed by prochlorperazine (category C), prednisolone (category A), promethazine (category C) and ondansetron (category B1). Benefit has been reported with the use of ginger. Evidence is mixed regarding acupressure and acupuncture.

It might be worth getting Vitamin b6 levels checked and get an MSU done. Urinary infections are not always symptomatic. I also read about ensuring that you are well hydrated to prevent morning sickness, from one of those ‘water can cure many diseases’ websites (although I’m not sure if it’s well backed by studies). Vicious cycle if water doesn’t even stay down. I’d possibly be pushing for IV hydration a lot earlier than when the doctor decides.
