>>>>>>>paranoid<<<<<<<<
Ok so i think is was almost 2 weeks ago now but i lost a blob of mucas with two streaks of blood in it. I knew i was not in labour but i went to the hospital and all checked out to be fine. Ever since then i have been having BH which are painful but definitly not contractions and not regular. I have been getting sharp twinges type of thing in my cervix and this might sound like i am paranoid, i think i have already started to dialate. i could almost bet money on the fact that i feel like i have started to dialate. I am only 32 weeks and am worried what will happen. I know that by 32 weeks the baby has a good chance of survival so i am not overly worried about that, I am more worried as my labours are only short my last one was 4 hours spont and the one before that was 2 hours induced.
If i go into labour will the hospital try and stop it?
Will they try and give my steroids for the baby's lungs?
If I go to the hospital for my next appointment and tell them this they are probably going to laugh at me cause they probably hear this all the time.
Will they do an internal the see if I am dialating or not??
Sorry for all the questions
Thanks in advance

Our pregnancys sound the same! i have had 2 shows and very strong painful BH at times.
I thought i was in labour last wednesday morning but after an internal my cervix was long and closed.
In the event you do go into labour i believe they will stop it. My SIL went into labour at 33 weeks with her daughter, her waters broke and they stopped it. They only then induced her 3 days later when she got an infection (mind you would have been easier to let her go.. ) her daughter didnt need any steroids as her lungs were fine.
And they wont laugh at you! they are used to it all as its only natural to worry.

It depends on how far your labour has progressed. If they can stop it, they will, but if you don't get there early enough, they might not be able too.
If they have time they'd give you shots to help with babies lungs, but again I think that depends on how far into labour you are.
This is why you should be checked out if worried & not ignore it til the last minute. The earlier you are checked over, the more chance they have of doing what they can to make sure things go well.
They might do an internal, but that could aggravate things & move it along more. They could just put on a monitor too, which would measure any contractions you have.
Best to be safe than sorry :)

When i had the show they put a monitor on and i was not contracting and i know at the moment i am not in labour i just have this feeling that i am dialated and i will go early and i am a little scared as my labours don't last long. I really want to know if i have started to dialate like i think!!!!!

It cant hurt to go in and get checked. it will atleast put your mind at ease. Listen to your gut instincts.
-
I think we're going through the exact same thing at the moment. That's me down to a tee today. Before when sitting on the toilet, I thought to myself, I think I'm dilating. Weird. If you go in when you're in early labour, they'll do what they can to stop it. They'll give you some steroids for bubs lungs as well. At 32 weeks, bubs chances are good. Good luck hun.

I don't think they can refuse if you ask for an internal. Or you could look up how to do it yourself.
Maybe ask Alan. I'm pretty sure he could give you a good idea of what to look for :)

I would go in and get checked out JIC, you could test your cervix yourself if you felt game to see if youa re dialating, but I am not sure if it is advisible at this stage.
DD didn't receive steroids and I delivery her at 33 weeks and we were extremely lucky at the time, but she has lung issues now (requiring numerous hospitalisations) that may have been avoided if she made it to term, BUT it is NOT a risk I would like to take, you never know the complications that can arise from having a baby prematurely, 32 weeks is a good gestation as such when you compare it to the early prems, but by no means is it "safe" I know a lot of prems who have had long hospital stays and problems born at 32 weeks or later.
You really want you baby baking to full term
FWIW I had no idea I was dialating, couldn't even feel it, and I had 45 min on contracts and was 8cm, so I either dilated very quickly or didn't feel it what so ever, I have had quite a few cramps through the cervix area and my scan a couple of days ago showed the I was still closed and it had lengthened a little since my previous scan, so it was good to know the cramps aren't "doing anything" as such for me.
Take care, and get checked out to ease your mind and be prepared should something happen, we had no time at all, my labour progressed very quickly and we were just blessed the DD was able to cope with her early arrival, and by no means was it an easy journey. I don't mean to sound like I am harping on, but most people don't really understand what it is like to have a baby prematurely, and if you have been through it you wouldn't wish it on anyone. xxoo

Hi Lovemykids
Yes they will try to stop your labour. Yes they will give you an internal. Yes they will give you an injection. However as clover said they will only try to stop your labour if they think that they can. If you have progressed too long then they will not be able to stop it.
Also the injection they give you to help with your baby’s lungs is better if you have 2 injections about 12 hours apart. I would suggest that you go and get checked.
-
I was too far for them to stop it, being 7-8cm on arrival.
With the steroids is it 3 injections over 48 hours, 24 hours appart for them to have the best effect, the MW ask my OB if she should administer the steroids as I was pushing DD out :o even I knew it was too darn late!

LMK did you go and get checked? Thinking of you xox
-
>>>>>>>paranoid<<<<<<<<
LMK the earlier that you get it checked the better, with dd1 I had no idea I was in labour my waters broke and I was 5cm dilated. With dd2 I was having regular contractions but not dilated so they tried to stop the contractions. Hope you are ok this morning.

Sorry its taken me so long to get back to you all, I did not have anymore pains last night. I had an ultrasound booked for today to check something else they found at my last scan, so i asked the lady if she can tell if i am dialating or not. She checked my cervix with the ultrasound and said it was still quite long!!! So that means that i am not dialted doesn't it??? The baby is fine and everything looks great the lady was so great she checked everything again for me!!!
Thank youall so much for caring

>>>>>>>paranoid<<<<<<<<
It's a good thing LMK it means your cervix is still closed. Was there any sign if engagement, maybe that could explain the pains?
-
She said that she can't tell how far engaged the baby is but the head is right down there.
-
If it is it still long then generally it is closed, what they can look for shortening of the cervix and pockets within the cervix (looks like bubbles/airpockets) along the length of the cervix and funnelling of the cervix opening up from the inside of the uterus, I have scans done fortnightly on my checking for all of these things, to pick up any signs that it is opening, but yours sounds fabulous and it holding up nicely :)
Great to hear
Take care xxoo

Glad to hear you're ok LMK! We'll be crossing our legs together!!! lol...
