Do you think I should call the hospital? Onset of PE?

Hi there, I am 31 weeks pregnant. I've noticed over the last 4 or 5 days that sometimes my wee is frothy (not all the time though). Dr Google says that this is a possible symptom of proteinuria. I've also had an uncomfortable feeling up under my ribs on the right side, nothing extremely painful though so I've just been assuming that it's bub. Also my BP has been pretty good but the last few days I've had a few systolic readings over 140 (155 being the highest) but the high readings are not consistant.

I had Pregnancy induced hypertension with my last pregnancy (hence why I monitor my BP) and this pregnancy I have GDM as well.

At my last hospital visit 10 days ago there were traces of protein in my urine (which i know is largely nothing to be concerned about) and my BP was fine.

I don't want to seem like a hypochondriac. Should I call the hospy or just wait til my next antenatal visit next Wednesday?

If you are concerned give them a call and see what they say to do, it's better than stressing about it all weekend.

I agree, don't stress yourself out and call them. Better to call and be told it's nothing to worry about then to sit and stress for a week which wont help your blood pressure either. Good luck

Give them a call. It is better to be concerned and do something. You will find that they get calls all the time so can answer your questions. Never be afraid to ask questions regarding your health, which includes the baby you are carrying. :)

Give them a call - especially given your history, I don't think they would see you as overreacting at all.

I'm with the others. if it is worrying you, call your care provider and get checked out. that way they can either put your mind at ease, or do what is necessary to help you and bubs xx

I agree with everyone else, but would like to put it a little stronger -if you're concerned enough to have made a thread about it, you should already be at the doctors hunni :hug: I know you don't wanna seem like a hypochondriac, but given your history, and given how fast PE can progress once it takes hold, I would prefer to see 100 patients with false alarms than 1 who didn't come in time, y'know? I'm not a nurse or anything, but a close friend of mine went from having a slight headache with her PE to being unconscious and having an emergency c section at 34 weeks within 20 minutes - it just ain't worth the risk :hug:

if you are worried definitely give them a call, they won't mind answering your questions, or even getting you to come in and be monitored. As Berenice said, I'm sure they'd much rather it be a false alarm and go through all the tests as a precaution, than it being worst case scenario... And I think you need to put your mind at ease too, no point worrying about it until your appointment, which could possibly make it worse! :hug: hope everything is ok

As others have said I would call if you are concerned. I also have high blood pressure, but so far I ahve been lucky other than hig BP no indicators of PE. My BP throughout my pregnancy has been 130/80, but about 4 weeks ago started to rise at it's highest it was 155/80. I was told the systolic number is more your anxiety number as this number is how quickly the blood is being pumped where as the diastolic is more closely wtached as this is your resting number (between beats) in my case is a lot better judge of what my BP is as I get major anxiety when having my BP taken. What is your bottom number when you are doing BP??

Hopefully you have contacted you provider and had your mind put at ease.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I called the hospital and they told me to see my GP as it could be an indication of proteinuria or an infection. I was lucky enough to get an appointment for later this afternoon so I will come back and update tonight.

Okay, so I AM a hypochondriac! :lol: Went to the Dr's and no proteinuria and no infection. I guess better to be safe than sorry though and at least I can enjoy my weekend without worrying. :)

whew...good to hear everything is ok. But better that you know all is fine than worrying yourself sick all weekend!
