I am wondering if anyone had a c-section as a result of pre-eclampcia and then went on to have a successful VBAC??
I had my DD more than 5 years ago now due to pre-eclampcia (didn't go into labour at all not even 1 contraction) and now with this bub I have told the hospital at my first appt I would like to try for a VBAC they seem ok with it but I was just wondering if anyone can give me advice or suggetions? I go for my next appt at the hospital on the 14th of this month

The rates for successful VBAC vary depending on your reason for a CS, and also on your obstetrician and how willing they are to let you labour. It sounds like you have an excellent chance as long as your care providers are supportive.
In your situation I would be asking lots of questions about the hospital's VBAC policies. Some will be happy for you to labour at home until established, and then have continuous monitoring belts on for some or most of the time. Others will insist on you coming into hospital upon your 1st contraction and having an immediate epidural and constant monitoring which will reduce your chances dramatically of achieving a natural birth. Find our what your hospital would like you to do and then read as much as possible about labour and have a think about the sort of labour you want (ie active, managed, HypnoBirthing) and how likely this is within the confines of the hospital you have chosen.
One other thing to consider is, although you already have a child, you will labour like a first time mum because you have never laboured before. So this often means a long latent stage, and long first stage. Again refer to the hospital guidelines and how long they "allow" you to labour for before recommending a repeat CS so that you have all the facts before you go into labour.

Thanks for that I will ask lots of questions when I go for my next appt on the 14th
of course in the end I will do what is best for my baby and if that means another c-sect then so be it but I really hope to have a VBAC this time

If it helps at all, I hadn't laboured at all before my 2 sections, and I had a natural VBA2C last year.
The doctor said she is happy to let me go into labour by myself but she wont induce me which I expected and I am now ok with.
I am trying to be really good and do the right things so I have my fingers crossed this baby (that is sitting loads lower than my DD ever did even though I know its still sorta early to judge that) will come naturally
You definitely don't want to be induced, puts too much pressure on the uterus. Did you know that first time mothers who are induced have the same risk factor of uterine rupture as VBAC mums? Nobody ever quotes those statistics though - cos as we all know - VBAC is soooo dangerous ;)
Doesn't stop them inducing people left right and centre ;)
I had a cs at 30/40 for severe PE and HELLP syndrome. Bub was also breech at that stage.
I attempted a VBAC but gave up during labour for lots of stupid reasons...Still furious at myself for letting other people's opinions get at me!!
I went into labour naturally and had a trouble free pregnancy. Is it the same partner? Your risk of PE decreases with each pregnancy if you have the same partner.
I saw a renal specialist through my pregnancy and had regular blood tests and was taking asprin and calcium as per his recommendations. Not a single sign of BP except for during my CS when I swear they tried to kill me! Just kidding, though they did stuff up my anaesthetic and my BP skyrocketed - I thought I would have a stroke just before they pulled out my baby.

Me i did, to both questions. Advice hmmm stick to you're guns, and dont let anyone tell you different. My OB only let me go over my DD by 4 days. I did have High blood pressure and it was looking like another CS. but as soon as i calmed down and listened to my body i was fine.
My labour was 10 hrs ( felt longer) and there were points were i wanted to give up n have the cs lol
But nothing pethidine couldn't help lol but also know you're limits aswell.
I had the same as you with my first Son he was born 2 and half weeks early.
Id do it all over again it was great
As questions even if they are stupid.
Melbell I do have the same partner and he's very supportive of what I want
BeautifulMadness I am very determined to go as far as I can this time and I am being very good healthy wise I hope lol.
DH is very supportive as well so that helps. I had a horrible OB that was very accusitory as ti why I hadn't booked in for another c-sect and I told her I wanted to try for a VBAC and she looked at me like I was an idiot and said well we'll see but chances r u will have to have another ceaser. I am not silly I do realise if it for mine and or bubs best interest or health I will do whatever I have to even if that means a ceaser but I dont like being told that I HAVE to have another ceaser just cos I had 1 before. My BP is already so much better than when I was preg with DD and I feel better about myself so I am going to go was far as I can. I want to labor as I didn't even get the chance with DD.

I had Severe PE and didn't go into labour with DD (born at 31 + 3 wks).
When I was going to have DS (17 mths later) the ob was very supportive for a VBAC - but (without going into my 'woe' story) I ended up going for the elective c/s.
