What did you use to raise the head of the cot mattress?

We're at the point of transitioning DS2 from basinette to cot and need to raise the mattress because of his reflux. Never had that complication with DS1 so not sure what to put under the mattress to lift it. We've got 3 large novels under the basinette, but that barely lifts the cot one because it's longer. What did you do? And how high should we lift it?

We lifted it with a Stephen King novel, a Dean Koontz novel and a towel on each side... sooo.. however high that is.. LOL

I put pillows directly underneath the mattress, three of them in a wedge shape (so two at the top, then one) which made a massive difference to boytwin to suffered from lung issues and reflux.

I vaguely remember the magic angle being 30 degrees, not sure where I got this from but it *may* have been from the book 'baby on board' which is written by DD's paediatrician, who genrally appears to talk a lot of sense!

I think we used a towel under the matress and a couple of books under each leg - we tried yellow pages but they raised it too much and dd just slid to the bottom!

the MCHN warned me about lifting the actual mattress because bub could roll and get caught in the gap and to raise the whole cot itself IYKWIM? we used phone books

We too lift the whole cot by putting phone books under the legs.

We have DD's cot lifted due to lung issues, and we have a brick for each leg at one end with a piece of carpet rolled around it

we used phone books under the legs at times and at other times we used bricks...

Steve Waugh helps us ... well, his incredibly thick hardcover biography does, anyway. That plus an equally thick novel my mum left here prop one end of the cot up when DS2 has a headcold.

Formula tins filled with sand under the legs.

same as traveller pillows under the mattress is a steady way to do it. I also used this method for helping with my late pregnancy heartburn and when the girls have colds or asthma.

We did phone books under the legs too.

I used the good old bricks under the cot and it worked a treat.

We used several rolled up towels for DD.

We also used a towel, this massive massive big beach towel folded/rolled up.
