Hey girls this might seem like a stupid question but I got eye drops for DDs conjunctivitis and I can't get them in! I don't have anyone to help (mum and dad are both out this weekend) and I can't manage to hold her arms head and hold her eyes open all at once! I tried tricking her and just gave her a toy and laid her back but as soon as I got close she screwed up her face and cried (I would too!) any tips please?! TIA
The way I put eyedrops in myself (I hate anything being close to my eye so I'm a big baby with eye drops) is to put them in the inner corner with that eye shut - it kinda washes across when I open my eye. It's best done laying down.
A doctor once told me (as I HATE eye drops too!) to lay down with my eyes shut, then put drops at the corners of my eyes. Then when I'd open my eyes the drops would just run straight in.
Maybe that would work? Haven't had to give DS drops though, I would imagine it's not the easiest thing to do. Good luck!
WOW girls wish i had of known that, am giving DD2 eye drops at the moment too.. if that doesn't work hun i have been pinning DD2's arms under my legs (basically stradling her laying on the floor) then my hands i hold her eye open and use the other to pop them in.. it's so so hard though.
It is bloody hard!! And she's all snotty and sticky ewww this sucks! Tempted to get the dog in to sit on her hahaha
I had problems with DS when he was younger also. I use to put them in when he he was asleep. Just slightly opened his eye and put them in the corner.

That was what i as going to suggest... but i guess when she's alseep you don't wanna risk waking her. Hrrmm..
Sleeping is always the best time. Worked everytime for my kids.
The truth? With great bloody difficulty. I sit on the floor with DS, lay him back with my legs over his shoulders, holding his eye open with one hand and doing the drops with the other. Walah! Worst experience ever. *Bows*
I have tried every other way and its not as effective for DS so Im stuck with the mean mummy way.
You should only need to pull the bottom lid down and put into there not on the actual eye, so you should be able to do when eyes are closed unless she's got them closed really tight
From experience the easiest way to do it is wrap her up in a blanket like you used to when she was tiny tiny. Then sit on her to stop her from getting her arms out. All she will be able to do then is turn her head side to side, but it makes it soooooooo much easier. Hope you try it, and I am looking forward to finding out if you found this easy :)
I just had to do this with my son. I ended up having to pin him down and peel his eyes apart... sounds terrible and I felt horrible about it. He would scrunch his eyes up so tight that the drops wouldn't even go in at all. Just rolled down his cheeks. He wouldn't open his eyes until he was sitting up. The doctor did tell me to put them in the OUTER corner of the eye...
