Hi girls
I've started charting since having the Mirena removed a couple of months ago. I'm into my third cycle, but my body is doing strange things (for me...).
My chart is here .
My last cycle was super-short, only 16 days. I had spotting at day 9. I'm having that again this month.
Anyone know what that's about?

Just noticed noone has replied to this yet..... I really am not sure why you would get spotting so early in your cycle.... hmmm I'd say it's just your body trying to adjust again to being natural again. I've heard the Mirena can take a few months to completely leave your system? Even more so than the BCP does? I could be wrong though. Just something I have read.

Thanks Shanti. I did expect it to take a few months to get back on track, so here's hoping tomorrow does not see the end of another 16 day cycle. I am having AF-like symptoms again. :wall:
I'm going to order some hormone-balancing supplements next week that might help give me back my regular cycle. Whatever that is!

Not too sure about your "wonky" cycle (lol) but your comment about supplements made me think...
What about some acupuncture to help get your cycle back on track? I found it very helpful after I had DD, AF returned, then I had nothing for a few months... so I had some acupuncture and then was back to 28-30 day cycles (normal for me) within two months.
Could be worth a try!

Thanks OP, you're the second person whose recommended that. One of my friends went to an acupuncturist who specialises in fertility and pg, so I'm going to ask for her details. I have a whole heap of supplements arriving this week to also get things going.
Good news is I'm on CD23 and think AF might be on her way this week. :crossfingers: that happens and things get more regular from here on.
If your cycle was only 16 days then maybe you could have ovulated early at CD9 and it was an ovulation bleed?

DD, I haven't heard of O bleed, but I think that's happened again this month, with spotting at days 9, 10 and 11, but then this cycle has gone for 23 days and counting. I wondered about that, do many women get it?
I think it is fairly common. I never really noticed that I had spotting around O time until I started charting while TTC DD2. The month that I conceived her I spotted for 3 days around O and then a day or two around implantion, I am not sure if maybe it has to do with the size of the egg that was released, I remember reading that somewhere.
I cannot see your cycle, does the spotting occur around your O time?
For my 16 day cycles I'd assume it was spotting around O. But I'm not temping yet and I wouldn't think (if I have a 28-30 day cycle this time) that I was O'ing aroud 9-11. :dunno:

Well thats true, if your cycle is longer then you would O later as your LP is meant to stay the same (although mine does not).
I agree, order that BBT, it is amazing what you can tell just from taking your temperature!
I get O bleeding some cycles!
Is it possible that your body is having a rough time making progesterone? Maybe after having the IUD in with it's artificial progesterone coursing through you for so long, your body is just trying to get things figured out with how to make progesterone again? If you temp, you can see also if you are ovulating. If you are not, there isn't any corpus lutum (sp) to make the progesterone, too, which means you could have shorter cycles from lack of the prog.
You could also ask your Dr about compounded hormone creams to help you have a balance, or at least for after you O for longer LPs? Just a thought.
GOOD LUCK - I'm gonna keep track of what happens with you since I had my Mirena out 7/19 - I think I O'd 8 days later, and as of yet no BFP so maybe my progesterone is being wonky and wont go back down? Stupid false hormones! Some people have cycles go back to normal right away, while others do take a few months. The company's study before it was released in the USA did show that 80% of women who were trying to get pregnant did get UTD within a year after removing it. Hope all goes well for you!
Buggzter, that sounds possible. I've ordered some hormone balancing supplements and a cream (they're herbal-based) that will arrive this week. I'm hoping that three months of those will get things back on track. :crossfingers: Let me know how it goes with you!
We'll be TTC after Xmas, I'm very glad I gave myself this time to balance things out.
I noticed that you're going to start with some supplements and thought I'd drop my 2cents in - I saw a naturopath when my cycles were crazy (anywhere between 21 and 43 days long) and she put me on some herbal supplements, including chaste tree and something called polyfem (which I think is a mix of things). Straight away my cycles balanced out to 31 days, every month without fail. In case you have no luck with the supplements you're using, I'd recommend speaking to a naturopath, who can probably advise about what's happening with your hormones.
I expect it is just your body regulating itself after the mirena. Mine took a long time to adjust after being on the pill for years.
Thanks for the advice Persephone. Well, I got AF after 32 days this time, so I have the feeling both the supplements are working and I've probably gotten over the last effects of the Mirena. :crossfingers: Guess next month will tell!
