I'm excited to announce I'm becoming qualified as a baby & toddler swim teacher! Yayyy :)
I'm hoping to do private lessons in peoples homes, and I was wondering if anyone here has had toddler/baby swim lessons and how much you paid?
My initial thoughts on pricing was $12/half hr, and $20/hr.
Would you consider that reasonable? I found one swim school that charges $15/half hour, but I'd like to hear more comparisons if anyone has any.
I've just paid my term 3 fees - $120 for the term, I think that's ten classes? So that would be $12 for half an hour.

$110 per term at our local pool. That's 10 or so sessions at 30 mins each I think
$230 for this term :wall: (its a long term though) so its really only $12 a lesson but ouch on the upfront payment :(
Don't underprice yourself. If you are going to their house I would charge $15 to cover travel etc.
ETA - the schools can charge that rate because they will have 5-6 (?) kids in each class, and that makes it worthwhile. Would you travel distances for $12-15? Or do you plan to gather a few kids for each session.
If it's only one child at a time I'd charge alot more. It's a private lesson after all.

I too am a qualified swimming teacher and where I work charge $11 per 30 minute lesson per child with 4 children per class. I'm looking at starting my own private lessons in private homes as well. I do know a swim school in my local area who charge $45 per private 30 minute lesson and lots of people do actually pay this amount. There is a website who have swimming teachers listed as available to conduct lessons and most of these teachers charge around $30 per child per half an hour.

ps Don't forget you'll need to have insurance to cover yourself.
Yes - insurance will be the annoying thing. I'll have to gauge interest first to make sure I can actually offset the costs before I take anything out.
If insurance ends up being too expensive though, at least the course will have been fun and it will look good on my babysitting resume.
you can always be an instructor at a swim centre first. From what I have heard teaching kids to swim can be very cool!
EmilyRose I think from memory my insurance is only about $90 for a year..Check in your course pack if you did Austswim for the insurance leaflet. Otherwise working at a swim school is fun most days and your boss should pay for your insurance :)
