Acne solutions
So my facial skin has always been good. I can have a good moan about various bits of me...but that was good. Then I came off the pill....and discovered just how much it controlled my 'good' skin. I soooo rarely had a spot. Then I had 3 rounds of IVF stim cycles back to back. That did it oh so much good.
My nose and chin, took it in turns to make me feel even worse than I did going through IVF,every time I looked in the mirror.
Then after 5 months off, it improved but didn't clear up. Since falling pregnant I have bad acne on my nose. It looks so bumpy and red...I won't go out without make up on...which I know won't help it, but seriously it's not a good look.
Question. Can I use clearasil products? I've read some controversy on the net. I used the cream and nothing really happened so I'm using the wipes that are impregnated just on the nose.
Any input valued x

could you afford laser treatment. IPL-type stuff can be really good and I assume it's fine during pregnancy.

I read an article the other day about insulin and pimples (here). Given that pregnancy messes with your hormones, perhaps it affects insulin levels too. I don't suppose that helps much, but I thought it was interesting...
I have no idea about Clearasil. I personally probably would consider it fine, but as a disclaimer, I can be on the casual side of caution about these things. I know you can use toothpaste to dry out a potentially big pimple..*ahem*...so I've heard...

Hey there
Many many women find that pimples and acne are hormone related, due to the changes in sebum production and other issues with hormones that cause our skin to go crazy. The best start would be to talk to the doc about a medicated skin wash such as clindatech (sp???) to help clear everything up. Its pretty drying and harsh on the skin, but it does the job well. Next is to start with a really good certified organic skin care range, think Miessence or Organis Spa (google them)
If you have cleared up the problem first, its easier to maintain. Speak with a professional beauty therapist, not someone over the counter in a store, they don't actually always have a qualification. Many places offer a skin analysis consult at a reasonable price to get the right advice and products. PM me if you want me to send out some samples of a range
Clearasil is a cheap supermarket product that wont do much for your skin at all. It has low active ingredients and dries out the skin in a particular way that the skin goes into shock and therefore produces more oil and makes things worse. The medicated stuff will do a similar thing, but as its designed for this its much better than a cheap chemical supermarket wash.
I'm not sure what perscribed skin care treatments are okay with pregnancy, but your doc will be able to tell you.
I had a crazy nasty breakout when i got the implanon put in, and before that had no skin care worries at all. I got a doc to give me a medicated wash from the chemist which cleared it up within the week and never had a problem again. Good skin care sure helps too :)

I use MD forumlations products, and could throughout my pregnancy as they are safe. They are amazing for adult skin problems (which I also had when coming off the pill). They clean your skin and also assist it to heal itself.
They are expensive products but are totally worth the money. You can get it online. It's MD formulations though, not MD skincare (which is american).

I would steer away from the laser. Therapeutic laser has a systemic effect (ie is absorbed into the whole body not just the area treated) and is contra-indicated in pregnancy. (there are cases in high doses of malformations in the baby)
