What Cake should I make?
A classic number 2 with a race track on top (Need ideas for how to do the actual track :) )

I like the idea of the #2, if you didn't want to do black icing you could crush a flake and do it as a 'dirt track' then just have green icing as 'grass' with green sprinkles if you wanted added texture.
Or chocolate sprinkles for the track with white lollies for the lines and green like ZF mentioned would be good then some Matchbox cars on top! Google images is your friend!!! I would do the no#2 and the other thing to do is find a local cake supply shop - you may be able to hire tins and get some advice as well! :)
can you price the edible icing for on a relatively plain cake, to bring the Cars theme in that you want on his invites?
i just went on ebay and searched disney cars party
came up with a cake topper as first result...
you could do a basic round cake (not too scary) with the topper on it and then create a race track around the bottom if you wanted to...
