Dinner for 12, ideas?
So I'm going to be hosting a dinner for 12 guests in a few weeks. It's going to be very casual, very family feeling. I just made an AMAZING steak, Guinness and cheese pie a few days ago, I was thinking of doing that as the main event. What sort of sides would you recommend? I'd like to do a few salads and maybe another side dishy type thing. And something easy like choc ripple cake for desert. TIA :)

Onion rings
Wedges
Green salad
Greek salad
Bread is a must have to soak up sauce!! Soft fluffy but crunchy on outside bread!!
Cheese cake or lemon meringue pie

mmm chocolate ripple... good choice, easy to do and you can prepare it early.
if you are hosting another one, i have recently found things like baked potatoes with lots of different toppings or fajitas/tacos can be great if you have lots of people who may have different eating habits (vego/pesco/carnivore..) cos they can all choose what goes on their plate.

Yum Kate!! I love that idea :)
Mmmm feeb, definately will have bread, nom!
So I've got one salad, a red onion, diced tomato, coriander, capsicum and red grape salad with balsamic dressing; it's kinda of salsa-ey and really nice. I was also thinking vegetable chips in tempura.

Roast vege salad - roast zucchini, red onion, sweet potato - serve on rocket base with balsamic salad dressing. Tastes yummy and has great colours - also pretty filling for any vegetarians or big blokes!
Lasagne
Curry/Rice
Mexican is always great too!
For a bigger crowd I try to do stuff before hand and then just heat and eat, lol!
