excema
I have excema / dermatitis - depending on who you talk to. Apparently I can't use any medication, and I'm ready to scratch the near-cracking point dry skin to bits.
I've been told just excema hand cream, but not to eat oranges etc and to drink cranberry juice. (ok, perhaps the cranberry juice was for the suspected uti that I thought I had, I really can't remember - that dr appt kinda rolled all into one.)
But I was thinking, is it citrus in general I should stay away from? Coz I use lemon juice and lime juice in cooking, and I love love love tomatoes at the moment...
any ideas to make the dryness and itchyness go away, without medication? Thanks heaps!

Have you tried moogoo?? it's available from some health food stores (online too - just google it) and it's amazing stuff. Has worked wonders here!!

Everyone is different, so trial and error is the way to go, but some common ones that trigger flareups are: dairy, beef, eggs, definitely citrus, and some kinds of breads, I think it's the yeast, or gluten or just the wholegrain or something.
If you love tomatoes and citrus, just eat small amounts and don't let any of the juice touch your hands or other eczema areas.
I'm sorry you have eczema, it sucks, I have had it all my life, my hands the worst.
Always keep the area moisturised, don't ever let it get all dry and flaky coz that is just so itchy.
Also, wear 100% cotton, and wool is really bad for eczema.

Yup another lifer for eczema here too, it sucks. Agreed with above trial and error I'm afraid.....I use QV oil in the bath and also QV lotion, it's very mild, I even us it on my face and my twin babies. You can also get a mild hydrocortisone over the counter 0.5 strength I think it is, that will help to get it under control. But I would only get small bottles of what ever you decide to try just incase it doesn't agree with your skin. But what ever you find that doesn't irritate you, make sure you use lashings of lotion after a shower or bath, keeping the skin moisturised is the key to preventing the crazy itching. Also try to wear cotton clothes against your skin as some synthetic fibres will irritate too. And cotton bedlinen etc. I hope you find something that works for you soon. x

I love Lucas's Pawpaw ointment for excema! I find it really thick and oily so it really helps to protect and heal my skin. I really love it! I have it on the back on my hands, from my wrist to my knuckles, and it's pretty bad, especially in dry weather, and doubley especially when I have to use chemicals at work (even when I wera protective gear, it still gets to me).

im in love with dermaveen moisturising lotion for DD's eczema! (so far, only been using a few days but i prefer it over QV)

Another alternative is to use goat mild soap. That works on my niece who has really bad excema. Also paw paw cream but make sure it is mainly pawpaw and not other stuff.
