So DH and I are still undecided about whether we go for #3 or not.
We struggled a bit initially with our new DS and both of us went off the idea of having a third. Now that things are starting to settle a bit we're discussing it again but still swing wildly from "heck no" to "definitely!" passing through a variety of "maybes" along the way! :D
So my question is for those with three or more kids: was it harder to make the change from one child to two, or two kids to three???
The decision to go for number 3 was easier than going to number two for us. will let u know early next yr wat its like bringing another person home ;)
My mum always said that 2 to 3 was a quantum leap compared to 1 to 2. She loves my brother to pieces, but she says that if she knew what it was like, she'd have kept it at two. i understand her reasoning.

OP i'm having the same dilemma. My DS has been the challenging child, and I'm not sure I could handle another round.
I don't have any friends with 3, except my sister.
I'm the first out of my friends to even have kids Kim!! My sis only has two and she thinks I'm mad for even contemplating 3!!!
My new DS has been a dream - it's his big sis who is causing us dramas. I kind of think if we did have a 3rd, DD would love being an actual "big sister" and playing with/looking after DS while I tended to #3. At the moment, she really doesn't get it.

As you can see I have 3 boys, my first 2 were 16 months apart and I think that this on its own was quite challenging in its own way. I always knew that I wanted 3 children but for the sake of my marriage and sanity I couldn't do such another close age gap.
There is nearly 2 1/2 years between my 2nd and 3rd sons which I found worked really well as the older 2 were at an age that they were generally playing together nicely so didn't require as much indvidual attention.
The thing I have found the hardest going from 2 to 3 is the amount of washing, I just can't seem to keep on top of washing, folding, ironing putting it away etc it seems never ending. Otherwise it has all been good.
I have found it easier is some ways, and harder in others. I have had them all very close, there is 21 months in between dd1 and dd2 and 18 months between dd2 and ds.
I have found it easier to deal with the lack of sleep and I manage to play with the girls while holding ds, whereas I was guilty of using the tv as a babysitter the first time. I have been out and about a lot too, it took me about two months to head out on my own with two.
Ds has had reflux and trying to get him to settle during the day has been harder. I don't stop running around until about 9pm either.
But I do love having three and the only thing I might change is the age gap between dd2 and ds, she loves him a little too much, she climbs into the bassinette if she can, or plonks herself onto him if he is on the floor to give him cuddles.
I have found its not much different having 1,2 or 3 kids ,mine are 2 yrs apart and it seems to have been much the same each time we have added to the brood that I am contemplating number 4. I love how the 2 older kids can play while I look after bubs and they dob on each other when one is doing something wrong while i am distracted with bubs ,very helpful when dd3 is writing on the walls lol. The biggest change I have noticed from going to 2-3 is the amount of food they consume ,i have never seen a loaf of bread go so quick!
i found 1 - 2 hard for the first few months but then got used to being organised and that was fine. I found 2 - 3 fine until #3 got mobile and then it became really hard. There is 18 months between my first 2 (boys) and then 2 years between 2 and 3. Both #1 and #3 are very very challenging (#1 not so much now but for first 4 1/2 years he was a nightmare :-) ) so some days i think i should have stayed at 2, but then i wouldn't have my dd who i am so close too so i never actually regret it - just have "if id' stopped at 2 life would be so easy now" moments :-). 3 does bring extra challenges in the whole car thing - having 3 in car seats and finding cars big enough may be an issue. Also being outnumbered by kids meaning someone always has to 'share' mummy or daddy. I think if i knew what i knew now i would still go for 3 as my dd is more than worth it.

I found 2-3 harder it's where the ratio goes against you and there's more people than arms however I think it also depends on the age gap
i found my first two harder than my 3rd my eldests are only 12 months apart and i had so many health complications with my first and then the 2nd is was unbelievable n i was only 18 with them .... my 3rd as a baby was a dream best ever now he has behavourial problems im still waiting to see how i fair with the 4th.. i thnk that deciding to have a 3rd wasnt a big deal for us at all i think it is just a decision on how ready u really are to make that step.. but i wouldnt change anything i luv them
