Sorry DD, I've learned my lesson

Well tonight's bedtime battle was fun :rolleyes:
Rocked her to sleep as I've been doing for the last couple of weeks because she won't go to sleep on her own anymore. No more than a few minutes after I put her down she was awake and crying. Didn't really want to start the whole rocking routine again so I tried patting her, she lay there staring me, occasionally closing her eyes but not looking sleepy at all. Fine, I'll slowly make my way out of her room and maybe she'll drift off. Took me about 10 mins to creep to the door and the second I stepped out she starts crying again. Left her for about 30 seconds then went back in and started patting, did the same thing all over again..as soon as I walk out she bursts into tears. Thought I would leave her for a minute or so and maybe she would calm down, or at least I could calm down a bit because I was about to crack.
She gets more and more worked up so I go back in and pick her up, and she spews all over me and the floor (luckily we have floorboards) and still won't stop crying.
I'm wandering all over the house trying to find something that will cheer her up because she keeps gagging and i don't want her leaving a trail of milky vomit everywhere! Finally she stops, we get somewhat cleaned up and then sit on the lounge until she finally goes to sleep...

So DD, I'm sorry...I won't leave you to cry like that ever again even though it was only a few minutes :(

Big hugs - sleep dramas are THE WORST. Moo has been having big problems settling lately so I feel for you.

I told my mum and she's like oh maybe you need to start doing controlled crying with her, you're too soft on her and she knows it, she's just playing you... :wall: Um i don't think so, that's why she made herself sick, because she was crying so much!! Not doing that every night! I just KNOW CC isn't going to work because she gets upset as soon as I'm out of sight, and I don't want to make bedtime into something stressful for her because then she is going to hate going to bed.

I think it's just harder now because for a while she was being really good and all I'dhave to do was put her down, give her the dummy and her giraffe and she would go straight to sleep, and now I'm back to having to work to get her to sleep and spending ages every night (and now during the day! Just gets better and better..lol) trying to get her to sleep. I'm sure it's just another phase :rolleyes:

Unfortunately the only way to learn if something is going to work or not is to learn from experience.

:hug: Don't feel bad hun, we have all been there. When I was mid sleep issues with J I was ready to run away and join the circus. Really. I was talking about this issue with girls at MG - we did forms for CC for our kids and I don't regret a day of it. For us it meant they both slept better, we slept better and everyone was happy. For us though it literally took ONE night with both kids :o and they never got to the point of being so distressed they threw up so it worked for us. If they didn't then we would have had to try something else. I have gf's who for them the same thing happened and they had to try other methods of settling. All kids are different and we adapt and adjust everything we do every day. xoxox

we've had many sleep issues with DD2, when she suddenly stop self settling at night and started needing to be with her, we sat in her room, didnt look at her, no contact etc.. and waited til she fell asleep then left,we did this for a few months until sudddenly one night she self settled, and since we havnet had to stay with her since. maybe try that :hug:

:hug: My DD won't go to sleep on her own anymore either. My DS was the same, couldn't let him cry for even 1 or 2 minutes or he would vomit.

Reading your post, I don't think she cried so much she made herself sick. I think she wasn't going to sleep because she was sick and she threw up in the night - when she's better I think she'll go off on her own again. Til then, all you can do is love her to sleep. DS goes through phases where he will selfsettle, need someone in the room, need patting - or whenn he is ill, like last night, not go to sleep until 5am. At least it is short-term!

Hugs babe I agree with LZ I'd say she felt sick and that's why she couldn't sleep not the other way around so don't beat yourself up over it ok you know where I am if u wanna talk x
