I was thinking of this last night, so I can keep an eye in bubs :)
...wait, wasn't someone sending me one? *searches through PMs*

The risk you run though with hiring a Doppler is that sometimes bub might be in a different position or you won't use it perfectly, and you will not be able to hear the hb or it will be very faint. I've heard that as often as the can give you a sense of control and that everything is okay, they can also cause unwanted and unnecessary stress.
Yeah I was thinking that PZ. I'm just so anxious :(
I know how you feel Hun. At the end of the day it's your call, of you use it and it makes you concerned you can just go in to the hospital and get checked, no biggie :) So long as you're comfortable.
Mine has stopped me stressing many of times especially when bubba has quiet days! You can buy them at toys r us now which works out cheaper than hiring them or look for them on ebay :)
I lost my little boy at 21.3 weeks mid last year. I never felt any movements and just kept waiting and of course it never came...
I am currently 16 weeks pregnant. Just to maintain my sanity I have hired a medical doppler from first beats. We could pick the heartbeat at 11 weeks.
We have found it extremely useful and have been able to pick the heartbeat every single time...I have promised myself I will return it back once I feel this darling bubba kick... Its $49 per month I think...
I bought one on an Aussie website (can't for the life remember where, sorry) for around $100 and the gel was a bit extra and it never failed me in my pregnancy with P. Picked up a heartbeat about 13 weeks by memory.
If you do. Use it minimally as it hasn't proven to be the best for bubs as u/s. Check for movement, stronge kicks etc. Some women dont feel this till 20 wks.
Mum-of-angel-baby-boy- Im very sorry to hear of your loss:(
Doppler's are curious creatures. As anything out there, there are good ones and bad ones. I sell medical equipment for a living, so I have seen first hand the frustrations when this technology fails. As with anything, sometimes trying to have too much information can be more filled with danger than just letting things flow. I understand you want one, but, the risk of becomming 'addicted' and the stress that may be caused if you don't get a clear result could be extremely stressful to you, even when you don't have any reason to worry. If you go down this road, be sure to keep an open mind, and remember techology can be unreliable.
Just my two cents worth.
When I was pg with DD I bought one from eBay (and the gel) - knowing that I may not always find the hb, and the stress that may add.
Anyways, at 13 wks I managed to find the HB from DD, and same with DS. I didn't bother trying to use it any earlier than that as I knew I probably wouldn't be able to find the hb. This time around I have detected a hb from about 11 wks. And yep, it is definately reassuring :).
