Hi, I know I can't have soft serve ice cream while pregnant, but I'm wondering if the normal kind is ok? Like from a tub or on a stick from the shops?
It's such beautiful weather here and I so badly want an ice cream!

Yep perfectly fine ;) I had cold rock yesterday! Mmmmm!
yes as far as i know "normal" ice cream is fine the soft serve is a no go because it can cause a Listeria infection.
go for it hunni ive been loving the classic magnums an crunchie icecreams from coles esp in this qld weather!!! enjoy :D
I have never heard otherwise, it is only the soft serve because of the listeria risk from unclean machines. I would think that normal ice-cream would be as safe as normal dairy.
Oh thank you thank you everyone!! I'm off to the servo now lol, got my mind stuck on a Magnum
I ate a 2lt tub of the cadbury icecream with a chocolate topping a week with all of my pregnancy's.
I also had the Macca's sundaes sometimes as well.
Mmmmmm Cold Rock!!
others have covered this - ice cream is a-ok, except for places where the machine might be unclean, and have germies
:D
I love me some ice cream!
:loveshower:
Lol at the tub a week Heather! I reckon I could easily do that in this weather! Up until now I've been so healthy, watching what I eat, but just can't pass up this Magnum :)
is macdonalds sundaes okay- dont they use the same ice-cream as the soft serves??
Sundaes are out sorry bubbles :( a caramel sundae is first on my post birth food list!
oh bummer- but i guess i could still get the icecream in the tubs from the supermarket right. What about chocolate? even like hot chocolate?
sundaes are ok though if you go to dairybell or somewhere they make them from scratch, with "real" ice cream :)
re hot chocolate etc, just make sure they make it fresh, and not from stored ingredients ... at some coffee shops, etc, they make a mix up which just gets stored, and can be kept for days at a time ...
that's a no-no, for the same listeria concerns!
but made fresh? you go get your chocolate on, girl!
