I would like to have a VBAC for this bub. So I have been looking into Hypn birthing Classes that are held locally. I will also be using bath / shower for pain relief.
Has anyone takesn the Hypno classes and did they work??
Can you use the Hypno combined with water??

Hi, I did hypno with my second bubba trying for VBAC but ended up with C-section again. It did help a lot with the labour I did have and helped me so much more with coping with the c-section. I recomend it to anyone and everyone, it helps with every type of situation :)
We did a course.
I found it great for relaxing during pregnancy. The course itself was very helpful also in explainign why relaxing and breathing are so important and helpful.
If you're new to hypno stuff i wouldn't expect to be able to completely zone out (or in?) but it can still be very helpful in focusing your mind and helping you to remain calm. I see no reason you can't do that in the water either - probably be even easier that way.
The thing that worked best for me was even when the contractions were very intense and I didn't think I coudl do it anymore, I was able to put my head down adn breath and recover during the little breaks and gather myself for just one more.
I used hypnobirthing for my recent VBAC. How well this technique works really depends upon you and how much you put into it and the particulars of you labour. I managed 24 hours of active posterior labour (almost 36 hours all up) without any other pain relief using this technique before eventually going for the epi to help me progress as I was stuck at 4-5cm (depending who I asked). I found it worked really well, up to a point. It worked especially well in the early stages and it only lost some of its effet for me once I became too tired after so many hours and found it hard to maintain focus.
I don't know a lot about hypnobirthing, but I did the calmbirthing course & used relaxation & breathing through the labour. Like the previous post, it got me through 17hrs of difficult labour but failure to progress meant having to lay down with lots of monitors & tiredness lead to an epidural.
I'd fully recommend using breathing & relaxation to help with labour. But I'd say not to use the bath in the early stages. I think the lack of gravity may have contributed to my slow progress. I think it's OK to be in the bath after 4cm dilation.

I used hypnobirthing techniques for both sons' births and it was instrumental to me having relaxed, comfortable births. I found the course empowering and while I always did feel confident about birthing naturally and drug-free, it added "oomph" to my state of mind, if that makes sense.
I've waxed lyrical about hypnobirthing on BB threads during the past two years (I'd suggest you do a search for past threads) but bottom line for me, is that the course was worth every cent.

I did it with my 3rd & I really didn't get much time to put it to practice during labour as it was all over before I really realised. But in saying that it was my easiest labour yet. I think it really helped with my state of mind going into it.
I used Hypnobabies home study course. I loved it during pregnancy. I didn't use all of it during the birth (because I hadn't finished the course before Leo was born) but believe what I had practiced helped me have a drug free birth.
