What sling did you use after a c/section???

Sorry if this is the wrong section,

But i just wanted to know what kind of sling you ladies that have had c/sections found best after birth?

Were you told not to use a sling until a certain time?

I want to start useing it within the first month of bubs being born and i just wanna know if its safe and what kind you found best

I used ergo 4 weeks after cs with DS1.
I used close carrier 3 weeks after cs with DS2/

Close carrier I prefered because I find ergo a PITA with newborn insert.

I carried DD out of the hospital on day three in a bubba moe style sling & had her in the Moby at six weeks.

I used the Hug-a-Bub (a wrap carrier) about 2 weeks after I think. Just made sure I didn't do it up so it was rubbing on my scar. I found it really comfy especially on my back as my back was pretty sore.

I had my peanut shell one in hossy with DS, and he was a 4kg kid.

Because realistically i will need to start using it pretty much in the first week of having bubs and just a little scared of doing damage,and i mean for things like picking up dd from school and shopping etc...

I used a ring sling as soon as dd was home at three weeks, it was much easier than trying to lift the pram out of the car.

You can use any carrier that doesn't put pressure on the wound site straight away if you are comfortable doing so, but from experience, I found ring slings to be the most comfortable for initial wearing, followed by an unpadded mei tai (a DIY BBO) tied above the waist. I wore DD the day she was born in a ring sling - about six hours after the surgery I think, then used a mei tai later that night. I used a woven wrap in a front wrap cross carry (FWCC) the following day and found that it was difficult to stretch properly whilst tying - the wearing itself was comfortable but the tying was not so comfortable. Whereas a ring sling can be easily adjusted without stretching one's arms behind one's back. After about 2-3 days I found it OK using a woven wrap as long as I was careful tying, and this was the most comfortable and versatile for longer wears. I started using a structured waist carrier only recently (in the last four weeks), but that's because I was mostly wrapping when out, not because a SSC wasn't comfortable - it's been really rainy recently and I haven't wanted to drag my tails on the wet ground so I've been using a SSC. It's been mostly comfortable, but occasionally I can feel a little pressure against the scar (nothing painful, just irritating). But I still get that with pants occasionally too LOL.

Basically you should go with how you are feeling - if you feel up to walking around carrying a baby (in arms) after surgery, then using a carrier correctly is no less comfortable, and in many cases is more comfortable as long as you avoid the wound site. But don't do anything that feels uncomfortable or painful, as it will only hamper your recovery.

I carried DS2 around in a mini monkey a few hours after we left the hospital... and used the close carrier a day or 2 later.
Neither put any strain on my scar :)
