Hi,
I've just had my 12 week scan and been told I have a retroverted uterus. Has anyone else been told this before, and has it created any issues during your pregnancy or birth?
I have a retroverted uterus, and was told that most of the time it corrects itself not long after 12 weeks in pregnancy. I've heard that it can make it more difficult to labour, but don't know firsthand. Sorry, not much help - all I can suggest is keep talking to your doc, and DON'T google it, because its going to scare the crap out of you :)
I have a retroverted uterus. no probs with either pregnancy.
Google will tell you some scary things - don't go there. Your doc/midwife will know if there are any problems - most of the time there are none.
Congrats!
Another retroverted uterus here. No issues from it in pregnancy and none in birth. It has gone back to being retroverted after pregnancy too. I think it's just a different variation on normal.

We should start a club!
Another one here. Was told that I had one after DS was born and the Dr said it shouldn't cause problems, might just make AF a little more painful :o
Anyway, I had no trouble falling pg and labour was a breeze  (ie. all went to plan)
OOOOOoooo I'm part of the CLUB! The RetroClub! No problems with either pregnancy here either :)
I'm in this club too. Absolutely no problems caused by it in pregnancy or birth (or sex, or conception, or anything!).
I was recently informed I had a retroverted uterus, too! Yay for not being alone :D
I wouldn't know what sort of impact it has on conception/pregnancy/birthing as I only became aware of it a couple of months ago, but from what little I do know, it's just another variation on normal as BW says :) I have noticed though that DTD has been a bit more painful in the last few months so I'm scheduling a Dr's visit to ask if the positioning of my uterus/cervix has anything to do with that and if so, how to work around it. Congrats on your pg, all the best for a very happy and healthy one!
Another one here, no issues except difficulty getting good detail with external u/s in early scans. Birth didn't go to plan but could have been any number of other reasons for that.
That's a point Shades, I only found out recently that thats why I always had to have internal scans, normal scans didn't work. I thought it was because of my weight but the doc said it wouldn't matter if I were Angelina Jolie, my uterus tilts away from the scanner
yep, i'm another one!
no probs during pg or labour!
Thanks ladies, it's great to know I'm not alone and that no-one has had any problems with it. And as Shades mentioned, it did make the 12 week scan very difficult. I'll wait till the midwife tells me it's a problem before I worry about it, I just wanted to get a feel for others experiences.
Yep another one here!! No dramas at all! I thought mine might be "fixed" after dd but early scans with this bub said it was back to being retroverted. Internal scans for me too.
I have one, too. No issues with conception or pregnancy. I had external scans the whole way through my first pregnancy and so far during my second, with no problem seeing bubs. I cannot comment on labour as I had an elective C-Section.
I have a retroverted uterus, get posterior placenta and have two rhesus negative babies here. If they were left-handed too I'm sure I could win something
Another one here :)
No probe with pregnancy or labour. Had internal us for early us (6 weeks) and then external after 12 week mark.
