I'm still a bit shocked, DD9 is heartbroken at the moment. Her friend rang before and told her she is a f...... c... and talks like her mum. She came to me in tears asking me why her friend would say this. Poor thing she is devastated. I'm going to ring her mum later on and let her know what's happened.

That's horrible your poor DD, I hope the mother does something about her DD language and behaviour.
that's awful. Your poor DD :( A 9 year old shouldn't even know those words! (well, maybe the f word..but they should definitely know better than to use them!)

that is shocking - how does a parent explain that to their child? What makes a child even say that to another?
That is absolutely terrible. I can't believe the things that come out of some kids' mouths. I used to teach high school kids and most of the time, the kids who spoke like that in the playground came from families where the parents were rough as well or were hardly ever home, so it was the kid's attempt to try and get 'noticed'. I wonder what the real issue is with this 'friend'. You will have to let us know what the mother says when you call her. I hope there is a good apology coming your daughter's way, the poor little poppet.

a) I'd be surprised if a 9yo didn't know how to use a phone?!?
b) All you need to do is catch a train or walk down a busy street to learn those words, sadly.
The thing that intrigues me is the motivation behind the conversation. Why is this girl so angry? Why can she not express herself properly? Your poor DD - I hope she understands that she is not the problem and doesn't take those words on board.

I ended up pulling that child up outside the school grounds when he said something to my son on the way to school.

Sounds pretty normal for an uncouth, rough around the edges 9yo with no manners. I wouldn't let my offspring associate with her for a while after that. Not forever, they have amazing forgiveness capacity at that age.
My 9yo manages to be rude and offensive without swearing (she doesn't swear), just because she is low on empathy and has no tact at all, and you have to give her a pretty serious talk to get it through to her that, well, your best friend is crying because of something YOU said that wasn't nice, generally with a protracted argument as to why it wasn't nice.
Ah, tweenagers. I hear they get worse as they get older too *grin*
The mother was very shocked her daughter spoke like that, she said she would talk to her and make her appologize to DD.
