High Risk for NT scan
I've just found out my cousin - due only about a month after myself has been given a 1:23 result for her NT scan. :(.
I'm shocked - its her second child, and she is only two months old than myself. There is no history of birth abnormalities on her side or her DP's side.
She is booked to have an amnio in 2 wks, and won't find out the results for a further 2 wks - which I cant even imagine the torment that waiting could do to her.
She thought something was up during the scan when she wasn't told (but she didn't ask) her risk factor based on the NT itself without the blood test. I found a few reports and it seemed the NT scan combined with blood results were deemed 85% accurate. I've had two friends who have been in my cousins shoes - one produced a healthy baby boy, the other......not so good, she miscarried.
What can I say? I feel hopeless, I feel guilty. I told her if there is anything I can do to let me know - but that just doesn't seem enough. Any words of reassurance you can share with me?

Oh Leesa :(
Could you point her in the direction of BB?? There are so many women who would have advice and support to share with her.. Even hearing similar stories and the outcomes that eventuated....
I've got a friend who had a similar result on her NT scan. When she went for her amnio, the doctor couldn't find anything wrong at all. Healthy baby girl later that year.
I hope everything works out for her :( Can only imagine the stress... x

Thanks Tellytubby - I have mentioned BB, but she said she isn't a forum kinda girl ;).

How hard Leesa, please don't feel guilty, this is out of your hands and all you can do is be there for her and maybe if she has questions but can't find answers put them on here for her if she isn't a forum girl. Perhaps you could get together with other family members to help out between now and when she receives the results, especially on the amnio day so she can take it easy and not try to keep herself physically busy when she should be resting... perhaps find something mentally to keep her busy instead... hard I know
