I really don't want to have to fight this

Stuff the government legislation thats all I can say. Actually, I'd say a word a LOT stronger than "Stuff" but it would just get pretty stars in its place instead anyway.

I just got off the phone with my midwife. She works on her own now because the other midwife I had when having DD2 has moved to Melbourne. She has two back up midwives who don't have insurance and don't take any high risk patients.

I'm high risk. I'm a higher risk than a VBAC - they can do VBAC's, but not VBA2C. She is ringing the australian midwives people and seeing if they can make an exemption because I've already had a VBA2C. With no complications. She doesn't want to get herself into trouble (and I've assured her that I dont want to get her into trouble) but its so screwed up that I can't have something that I want for MY own body carrying MY own baby.

Best case scenario for me - I'll have to go to the local hospital here and have the baby with my midwife in the room with me as a birth support. I dont' WANT to go to the local hospital, why would I want to when I know they aren't supportive of VBAC's in the first place? They act all casual and supportive at my appointments sure, but hey when I get closer to "D day" they're going to start on with the threats of rupture and oh no we can't let you go over etc etc bullcrap that they pull on everyone.

And I don't want to fight for that. I want MY midwives that I had with DD2. I want to birth in MY house.

The whole system is just WRONG.

I'm confused...what does the midwife have to check with the australian midwives people? Is the midwife an IM, or attached to the hossie...?

Sorry I feel I should know more about your plans, but I am honestly astounded you might not be able to get a VBAC when you've already had one!!!!

You're right. You shouldnt' have to fight for it. It's ridiculous.
No mother should ever be in a position to have to fight with her caregivers (so-called perhaps).

Have you crystall gridded your house? Done a ritual? Begin packing boxes & visualise sold out the front. I hope you me & K can have a gig together with this baby. That's what I'm putting out there. :hug:

Arcadia - she has to check how much trouble she would get in if she accepted me on her own as my caregiver. Legally, she's not allowed to attend to me herself, she must have a back up midwife with her that is equally insured as she is - which there isn't ANY down here in Tassie, well at least in this area. So she has to ring them and see if the risk for taking me is lessened by the fact that I've already had a successful birth. She's not sure about it because apparently a few midwives have been busted down here for taking high risk patients - and she doesn't even really want to tell them that she took me on as a VBA2C patient last time in case she gets into trouble. Its all so messed up.

Why do we always have to fight this stuff? You're doing the best thing possible by your baby and your body, so why all the hoops??? Grrrr!!!

That sucks, when I had Ds he wasn't classed as a vbac as I had already had a vbac in between. I am guessing it's different with homebirths when they like making it as hard as possible to happen. Hope your midwife can sort something out for you.

See, that's what I thought Black Rose. But maybe you have to have 2 vaginal births to cancel out the 2 c/s? (or something similarly ridiculous)

Oh Arimeh! I am so sorry to read this! Sometimes ist just not fair that we have to fight. You know i am having to go thru the process of picking a very lesser 2nd option too. So my heart breaks for you!
