BFP and cold medicine and nurofen plus?

oops... I did a couple of HPTs over the last few days which were BFN. They were internet tests. Today I did a fortel ultra sensitive and it came up with a second line straight away. I am 11dpo. The problem is I have been taking codral cold and flu tablets the last 2 days and nurofen plus 2 tablets twice a day to also try and combat the sinusitis I have.
Of course I will now not take the tablets and put up with the pain or go to see my Dr.
I am not rushing to the Dr with the BFP confirmation because I have quite an extensive history of early loss before 12 wks. This time I will not go til I need maxallon for morning sickness and then will only book ascan for the 12 week NT scan. A scan before hand to me is pointless as so many times I have seen heartbeats only to have them be gone a week or two later.

Do you think the codral and nurofen will have already had any affect? Should I worry?

No idea about the medications, sorry, but just wanted to pop in and say congratulations!! I hope this pregnancy is a very sticky one for you!

I did the exactly the same thing when i was pg with MJ, we werent trying, so when i got some cramping i thought that i was going to get AF, so i took Voltaren (which is significantly stronger than Nurofen plus but has similar actions) I also had a cold, so had ben taking Cold and flu tabs.
Well, i did a test the next morning after the Voltaren as i dreamt i was pg and i was - i was really scared, so saw the pharmacist as they know about how all the drugs interact better than anyone and he said that the way that it would harm the baby would be a m/c and it would happen fairly soon after taking them (1-2 days)... and that the Voltaren was more of a concern...

I dont know if this is completely correct but this is what i was told and i was in a similar situation to you, so thought that i would post.

I took cold and flu tablets before I knew I was pregnant with this one and everything is fine so far, don't fret too much, oh and congratulations!!

I think it will be ok, Ibuprofen (key ingredient in Nurofen) is a Category C in pregnancy and only really contraindicated in the 3rd trimester. Am not sure on Codral as I'm not entirely certain of the key ingredients but should be ok. If you are still in pain, you can safely use paracetamol and codeine (panadeine etc).

Gosh, I had so many medications, drinks, food that you're not allowed to have when pregnant before I did my Pos preg test! Whoops.
It must happen ALL THE TIME! So many women wouldn't know they're pregnant and just live life as normal.
Baby is still here tho, and healthy and normal..... due in 10 weeks. so I was worrying for no reason.

I was told straight away to stop taking Nurofen (I was living off it!!!) and any other ibuprofen products so I had to stop taking voltaren too... It can cause a miscarriage and is not safe in pregnancy as I have been told by every single professional I have asked. I have bad back problems and was relying on vol. n nurofen plus to get me through the day so it sucked but all we can take is panadol pretty much.

I'd just be really careful cause you may be the one in one thousand that it affects!
