Is this normal? (may be TMI)

My 14 week old DD is formula fed, and I have a few questions regarding her poos.

She has never had formed poos, apart from when we switched her to formula. They are runny, someitimes so runny they get absorbed fully into the nappy. Sometimes they are mucousy. Sometimes they are 'mustardy' and orange or yellow, and other times they are a dark green. They smell really bad, too.

I've asked this question before on another forum, but got no answer.

She usually goes once a day, but can sometimes, lik today, go up to 3-4 times a day.

The reason why I ask is that the past few weeks she has started being funny when drinking her bottle, so I'm wondering if there may be more to it.

She is 'snacking' and only taking between 50mls - 100mls every 30mins - 60mins. Today, in a 24 hour period she had 10 bottles, and she slept 14 hours over night, so that evens out to about 1 bottle every hour for her awake periods. I usually give her 150mls and she very, very rarely finishes them now.
When she is having a bottle, she will turn her head and the teat will come out, she will spit the milk out, then start crying a fake sounding cry like 'wah wah' which I always thought to mean that she wasn't too happy that she spat the teat out. She will do this right through.
I have tried to see if its the flow of the teat, which its not.

I just feel so confused. As well as snacking she is cat napping, so I feel like all I am doing in a day is (trying to) feed her and putting her to sleep, it hardly leaves time for play.

Is this normal?

Maybe its the formula.. Maybe get her tested too see if she is intolerant to lactose?? Sometimes this can happen due to the change from bf to bottle feeds but I would prob ask a pharmacist or dr n think of trying a diff formula

She has been tested for LI but it came back clear.

Oh ok then maybe it's the formula n upsetting her tummy.. Maybe try a thicker consistency one n see how u go thong with formula is that sumtimes u hav to experiment with a couple before " the one " appears lol..

Xanthe was like this a lot. She only ever snacked on her bottle until about 6 months. The most we could get her to drink was 100 mls. She never had any solid poo until she started solids. Hope that helps :).

Nope not at all.

Ok well that's a good thing then.. Mayb she is like px baby or maybe just try a few new things to see if she settles with feeds.. Wish I could giv u a quik solution Hun Gl :)

Personally, it sounds normal to me. Baby poo can be all manner of shades and consistencies, but from my understanding you really only need to worry if the poo is nuggetty (constipation), devoid of colour (basically white) or frothy (and even then that's just sometimes an indicator of lactose overload and would be associated with tummy pain, lots of screaming etc. ... and come to think of it more of a symptom for BF babies?? Not sure.)
I think that if bubs isn't really crying like she's in pain then probably she's just a snacker and a napper. I have only partially FF one of my babies and that was only as a supplement to BF as a 6-ish mo so I am not the most experienced. But there may be ways that you can gently encourage distance between feeds. However as for getting a napper to sleep longer - I am at a loss! Both of mine were cat-nappers and I just decided to roll with it cause I couldn't be fagged trying to encourage longer naps. But I know there are others who have had success in these endeavours so I would never say 'don't bother' if you find the cat napping really troubles you. You may find she will settle for longer periods in a sling close to your body. This might be a handy way of getting other things done around the house, and maybe if she sleeps a little bit longer she may wake more hungry and want a larger meal? :dunno:
Other alternatives... Maybe she is going through a wonder week and is just a bit unsettled? Do you think she may just need cuddles sometimes instead of the milk?

have you changed the teats to a bigger size or tried a different teat, with luke he was fine on avent for ages then started doing what you bub was doing and I changed to tommee tippee closer to nature we haven't looked back.

as for poo's Jack who is 4 now never had a formed poo till he was off formula, lukes range from frothy to clay likemy CHN said it was fine
