DD9 has asthma today, been taking her puffer but the coughing won't stop. She had the nebuliser about two hours ago and is telling me she feels her body is shaking inside. What causes the shakes? I'm just wondering if it's time for the doctor, was going to take her tomorrow, this is the first time she's had the shakes. TIA.

Thanks em, she's in her room with the vaporiser going, I'm hoping this may help a little. Poor thing she's dry reaching every time she coughs.

try popping her in a hot shower. it should also help to open the airways and might make her feel a little better.
Too much ventolin will def cause the shakes. If it is unresolved with ventolin and neb, it may be time for a check up. Is she getting enough air in? Does she have any hints of blue around her mouth, ears, or nose?
I always find ventolin gives me the shakes
I use Asmol puffer now and thankfully haven't had to use a nebuliser for a long time but I did have to use ventolin earlier this year as that was all that was available and i had the shakes
If the nebuliser or puffer aren't working then I would suggest taking her to the hosp.. I hope she is better soon
ETA: Meant to add. Mine is playing up this week too so I know that even though we are in different states I think this topsy turvy weather is playing havoc with it..
Thanks ladies, she says it's harder to breath out, thought it would have been the other way around. It has to happen when DH is not here too, he's asthmatic and always knows what to do, whereas I tend to panic more lol.

Breathing out is exactly how it works.. If she is struggling I would get her seen to.. or maybe ring and ask for advice.. Steam rooms sometimes help but it depends if she is getting the start of a chest infection..
Don't let her struggle too long with her breathing. Its awful being able to breathe in and not out..Get her checked if you are worried. Its always better to be on the safe side.
Also the Asmol is the same as Ventolin..just the cheaper brand and I also use that now. I still get the shakes if I've had too much but its one medication that is very safe and the ONLY medication that can be given to anyone. So keep that in mind. As a person who works with kids we aren't allowed to give panadol out but are allowed to give Ventolin if someone is showing signs of breathing difficulties.
That's exactly how my asthma works too - I call it having the "breath farts" because it is a bit like trying to force air out. I get the shakes from "too much" ventolin - but for me, that's only 2 or 3 puffs.:

I took her in last night and the GP put her on Amoxyl and prednisilone. She's coming down with a cold, not coughing as much today which is good.

Hope she is feeling better soon, asthma is not nice. and yep it's harder to breathe out then breathe in.
