Adivce please...will I need a double pram

I am struggling at the mo wondering if I will need a double pram and need some help! DD will be just over 2 and a half when bubs is born. I have been looking at doubles like strider and baby jogger that can be singles as well as doubles. What have been others experiences with their kids at that age? Do they want to be in a pram? She is ok in it now.
We have a bertini that is single only so would need to sell it unless it may take a skateboard but am not sure if that's an option for it yet and if little kids are ok with them?

hmmm personally I probably wouldn't. I would invest in a good carrier for bubs if DD still wants to sit. OR get one of those skate board things.

My youngest will be 2 & half when bub is born & I need a new pram anyway but not bothering with a double.

If your DD is going to be over 2 when bubs is born I probably wouldn't. Can you put a toddler seat on your bertini? Otherwise I think the skateboard would do fine also

DD was 2 and 10months when DS arrived and I never looked at a double. She still sat in the pram/stroller for months after he arrived, but I carried him everywhere and it was far easier for me to do that and have 2 hands free for my bolter than worry about a baby screaming for me while I chased her.

DD has become a conscientious objector to the pram anyway so she really only goes in it when she is asleep or just about to crash. I am not going to bother with a double, just get a carrier so that if DD insists on going in the pram bub can go in the carrier ITMS. She will be a little older than your DD when new bub comes along so not sure if that will work for you.

DS2 was 2.5 when DD2 came along. We bought a double pram (P&T Vibe) and we still use it. We found there are times where he was just too little to walk the distances we were walking or he would get tired and want to sleep. He is now not using the pram as much but we still seat DD2 in the toddler seat, but up on front, JIC DS2 gets tired and wants to go in the pram again.

This really depends, it is your choice that only you can make in regard to how much will you use it? will it be of a benefit?? perhaps could you buy a second hand one...like ebay. I have a double pram, second hand and in my case YES i have needed it. Not heaps to get a new one but enough to need one.

DS1 was almost 3 when next bubs was born & is a big boy so was well over the weight limit for a double stroller. What do you need the pram for? me I walk often for exercise so the double pram is great for that. Can't do long distance walking with a skateboard thing attached. My DS1 does not always listen so when heading to something like for example a school fete (recently did this) we used it so we can keep an eye on all kids. I also walk DS1 to daycare. We travel lots and DH is away for work lots so I use it when out and about with both kids and don't want one running away. Though DS1 is now 3.5yrs so will prob start using it less and it does not stay in the car - that's why second hand was perfect for us.

Thanks ladies! Hmm have to keep thinking... Was going with not until your post Erin...lol :) DH and I will be living apart next year so will be on my own a lot. But DD will be in day care 2-3 days a week. If I don't get one I can spend more on carriers lol
The pram I want is on eBay for a great price but I might just wait and see when bubs is here. It's still 6 months away.

I've been umm-ing and ahh-ing over whether we're going to need a double pram, or a toddler seat attachment. DS will be 3.5 when #2 arrives, so we're thinking no. DS does love to hold the strap on the pram and walk, but he also runs away - which is really annoying. DH is adamant we're not getting one of those backpack harness things. However, the *idea* is to have baby in a sling and DS in the pram... If he wants to walk, baby can go in the pram, if he wants to ride in the pram, baby can go back in the carrier.

Just a thought, if your only tempted to get a double pram to stop your toddler running off why not look at a harness instead? You can get some really cute ones now that have a little backpack with them. I know some people refer to them as dog leads, but in reality they save lives, and energetic kids seem happier with the freedom of one of those (not to mention a cool new backpack) than stuck in prams if the dont want to be...

I dont have a toddler tho, so not experienced just an open thought but i remember me and my brother being happier on them as kids.

*edit* sorry sconeonamission, i didnt read your post properly! Alot of people dont like the harnesses, and if it's cold and wintery i could see a toddler not wanting a bar of one too!

My girls are 21 months apart and while I did consider buying a twin/double pram for them, I ended up deciding it was going to be a waste of money. At 2 years old, you will probably find your eldest will prefer to walk alongside you while baby is in the pram, or that it will be easier (and safer) for your eldest to ride in the pram while you carry baby in a sling. I bought a Bubba Moe sling for DD2 but tbh, on the regular occasions that I take both kids to the shops with me, they both jump in the trolley and we find this to be the best solution for our family - I never bought a pram, either, just a $98 stroller from Big W that has no space for shopping or a nappy bag so I tend to grab a trolley even if I'm just going to grab a carton of milk and pick up a layby, kwim? The kids prefer being 'up' on my level in the trolley and able to sit, stand, walk around in it, but they are still safe and kept close at hand.

If your eldest was still a toddler, then a twin pram may be an option for you, but imo at 2.5 she will probably be wanting to express a lot more independence and you may find she no longer likes her pram at that age!! My DD1 wants to walk, ALL the time, this isn't always an option for safety reasons but she's much happier sitting in a trolley than she ever was in her stroller :) HTH! WE were not going to get one, but I ended up buying a P&T to go walking with and use it ALOT! Ds1 is a runner and doesnt like to stay clse so its easier for me to do errands etc with them both in a pram...when Ds2 was tiny i would use the carrier and still do but sometimes he prefers to be in the pram.
Maybe wait till number 2 arrives and see jhow you cope instead of purchasing something you wont use?

I chose to buy a triplet pram and got a carrier for DS. For a while I had DD1 and DS in the bottom of my twin pram and DD2 and DD3 shared a seat, they were tiny! Now Im going to have the DDs in the pram, bub in the close carrier and hopefully DS will walk. If not DF has his own carrier. Even now I can fit all 4 in my 3 seater. DS and DD1 share the top seat and DD2 and DD3 have their own seats.

My DS1 is now 28 months and we use phil and ted Dash daily as 1 he runs when out of pram and if we do head out with DS2 in stroller and DS1 walking eventually he starts asking to sit in pram.
