What does Remembrance Day mean for you?

Just curious whether Remembrance Day has a personal significance for you, while we are remembering the diggers. RIP

For me, I always remember it was the day I watched a calf be born. It was the first birth I had seen and was so beautiful, our lovely cow Lucy in front of us in the paddock labouring and then the birth, and us being able to get close in the first few minutes of this calf's life. Lucy was happy for us to be there, provided we didn't touch! I've had this memory for so long and I think of it every 11.11.

My most recent thought and memory was that this was the date my first baby was due, who flew away at 9 weeks. I wonder what he/she would've been like, turning two. I don't feel sad, just reflective. And I look at my gorgeous daughter now and cherish every moment with her, how amazing she is, her bravery, her gentleness, and accept that what is, is, but I still remember.

My husband is in the Army so for me it is about remembering service men and women and their commitment and dedication past and present.

I'm similar to ezymay, my DH used to be and many of his friends are/used to be in the armed forces. I remember the sacrifices and tough times we all made so they could go to countries and fight for the rights and freedom of our own people in Aus, as well as other people in different countries. I think about the people of the past who have lost lives, lost loved ones, lost homes and innocence over stupid wars that essentially got us where we are today I suppose. I think of my grandfather who was scarred both physically and mentally during WW2 and Vietnam wars. I think of the horrible times people have gone through due to wars and how lucky I am that they did because I am her enow in our beautiful country, free and happily living a life that so many others would love to have.

Of course, the Diggers are supposed to be remembered, and I try to do that every year.

But, its so hard. Considering 11.11 is my birthday, lol!!

Remembrance day is a day where I say thanks to the men and women who do such an amazing job fighting for our rights and freedom and put themselves in danger day in day out for us.

I also remember my dad who served 25 years in the armed forces.

And, of course, I remember those that have fallen whilst serving our country, may they rest in peace.

11.11 was the day my friend buried her baby daughter. So thats what I think of on Remembrance day. When we do our 1min silence at 11am I can't stop thinking of her funeral and the grief her parents went through.

Obviously it's all about our soldiers, and all those we lost, but to us it's also our anniversary of starting dating. 8 years today.

It's interesting isn't it? That is has such an impact with us all thinking of our armed forces and the sacrifices each serving man/woman and their families have made, but that it can also mean something else for each of us.
