Can't decide which group to go to:

I have a bit of a dilemma, not huge but I am struggling to decide what to do for the best.

I have been going to a wee playgroup for a couple of months now, it's nice. The ladies are lovely and so are the kids. But there are no kids DD's age there. So we just kind of sit and watch the other kids play. They are all around the 2 years old mark. But as I say, the ladies are all lovely and likeminded and I can chat to them about parenting etc without having to justify what we are doing.

I have also found another lovely group of ladies (through a rhyme session at our local library). They all know each other through their local ABA meetings and I just totally clicked with them, again, likeminded people who do the same kinds of things as we do with parenting. They are in the next suburb from me, so not quite in my area. They have all invited me to their ABA meetings. But it clashes with the playgroup times. The thing with the ABA ladies is their babies are all roughly the same age as my DD. We've actually started meeting every second friday to let the babies play and that has been so awesome. DD is coming on leaps and bounds being around babies her own age. And this ABA meeting would be really good for me, and for DD to be around babies her own age a bit more.

I think that the ABA group would be awesome but feel bad about pulling out of the wee playgroup.

I think that the decision makes itself really, the ABA group seems to be the one that my head is telling me to go for - better for DD and ME.

What do you think? And how can I tell the wee playgroup ladies that I won't be going? I'm really bad at stuff like this, am too worried about hurting people's feelings - which is daft as they probably won't bother! LOL

And because she won't walk on her own I spend most of the time holding her hand while she wanders around checking things out.

I would just be honest with the playgroup ladies, say you've found a different group that has children your DD's age that you think will suit you better, but of course you are sad to be leaving them because they are a lovely bunch of women. I'm sure they'll understand. maybe give them your mobile number and you could catch up some other time during the week if you still wanted to keep in touch?

u want ur dd to be participating n with kids her own age she will def leap through milestones!! :) its soooo cute ive never been to playgroups or anything but alot of my friends n i have kids the same age n we just let them go n they love it.. i think the wee group wil understand its not like ur doing it for urself at the end of the day u want ur dd to be able to join in activities that arent beyond her yrs.. iykwim :)

I am friendly with one of the mums in the playgroup - it was she who introduced me to the playgroup so I will arrange to see her and explain our situation.

I def thnk the ABA group would be good for you and your DD and it seems your leanng that way, maybe say to the ladies you've found a group with kids your D's age but you would love if you can maybe still come once a month for a catch up or organise a play date once a month with them and that you would like to keep in touch.
Maybe you could print out a 'thank you' card with a pic of your DD (do it through Big W or something and use the 15c prints :) ) and say thank you for being a part of our life, we hope to keep n touch and have your details on there. ????

my kids started going to a playgroup this year we moved to a diffrent suburb, and ds1 started kindy (one session was he same time as the group!) i explained to his kindy that every 3rd week he couldnt attend that day and they were fine with it.

See, I thought about doing this but chatted with DH about it and both thought that by doing this then we wouldn't really be an integral part of either group as we'd just be the ones who came fortnightly - does that make sense?

It's soooo typical that this has happened. I struggled to meet lovely people for MONTHS and then meet them all at once!!!! GRR!

It sounds to me like you'd be more happy at the ABA one and as you pointed out... it's better for both you and DD! :) It is hard though isn't it! I was the same a while back and had to choose lol.

Your daughter's so little now I'd go with whichever you feel happier with. When she's older she'll appreciate having kids her age to play with, though, but you're keeping up contact with the ABA ladies, anyway, right? So you could kinda do both for now then switch to ABA later if you want.
