DD said the teacher hit her

My DD is a good communicator and she is 2.5years old.

Anyway, so iafter school I usually ask her what she did and she would tell me. Then this week she said the teacher hit her. I was quite shocked and I asked her did it hurt and she said no, the I asked if she was naughty and she said yes and she cried afterwards.

Now I dont believe dd is naughty at all coz shes really well behaved.

I had doubts whether the story was true and wanted to find out what had happened on friday.

Then I was discussing changing cc with dh when he got infuriated about it and asked dd what happened and she told the same story she did to me (this happened last friday)

Would a carer hit a kid or do you think dd may have exaggerated the situation?

Im torn but will be looking at other childcare options.

personally, i'd go to the centre director and talk to her/him about it and would give DD the benefit of the doubt cos i just think you can't afford not to - for her safety and for her trust in you as well.

I may turn out to be a valid reason or answer that it wasn't a 'hit' or such but i'd be asking questions.

you never know, ti could have happened and may have happened before but if parents don't speak up will keep happening.

Yeah, I'd go and talk to the CC centre. If it's true, then it's totally not on. And your DD sounds well behaved and it also sounds like she communicates really well with you, so I'd be giving her the benefit of the doubt.

I agree completely with PPs, you want your daughter to know you trust her and you'll follow up this kind of thing. And if she's 2.5 and still has the same story I'd think it very unlikely she's making it up. Even if she was 'naughty' as she said, there is no justification for a person in that position to hit a child. Hugs hun, hope you get it sorted

Whether your LO is well behaved or not shouldn't be an issue she should not be getting smacked at CC, maybe it was a tap on the hand or something if she was touching something she shouldn't.. who knows.. best to be upfront and see what they say.

Yes I really think that you need to follow it up. It might turn out to be a misunderstanding but i think it really needs to be reported to the centre.

I agree, have a chat. Even if it is not true they may like to keep an eye out for any behavior that could be misconstrued.

Definitely follow this up with the centre, never ever is it ok for a carer to smack a child, even on the hand, no matter what the circumstance. I doubt a 2.5 your little one could make up a lie & stick to it like that. Goodluck & let us know what they say.
