Meds question, please
Sorry to poke my head in here, I thought you guys might know best out of everyone.
How sick do your meds (relating to TTC / Ovulation / IVF etc) make you feel?
Is it normal that they could make you so sick you are bedridden for 24 hours, vomiting, etc?
Friday I took some meds (prescribed Dostinex) which lowered my prolactin and made my estrogen and progestrone elevate quite a lot quite rapidly, but at the same time DD1 was also ill and I'm now now sure what made me sick.
Today I took half a dose, and I was back in bed again, nausea and headaches and feeling hot, but not vomiting. Wowsers, I didn't think any TTC / hormone meds etc could be this bad.

Some people do have very strong reactions.
I'm not familiar with that drug, but someone else may know. I'd get on to your doctor and maybe see about trying something different if it's that bad.

Thanks, I knew some IVF ladies had very strong reactions but wasn't sure how strong was normal. This is already the bettter of the choice of two drugs in terms of side effects. I have a new appreciation for the things some women have endured for their bubbas .

Hi Maruschke-
I'm a midwife and we give Dostinex to women who are suppressing their lactation ( ie not breastfeeding) to stop their milk coming in( just a 1 off dose) I've never seen anyone have a reaction to it, although I don't know if you had an different dose to what they would have.
I've been on a few ivf drugs and most of the side effects are mild, I haven't had any problems. Maybe you caught DD's illness.
Was it a one off dose or do you keep taking it?
Hope you feel better soon x

Hi Saffy
I have high prolactin, so I take 500 mg (is that right, one tablet?) twice a week to lower it. A few weeks back the galactorrhea (umm I can't spell, I started lactating again) got worse and I could express maybe a tablespoon from either side. I haven't bf for 17 months!
I'm thinking it is likely I got DD1's virus and it was just a coincidence, I really hope it was that.
Thanks for your concern, I've been stalking your thread too and hoping for the best for you .
