She's self-weaned... I think?

Our last feed was on Saturday.

She now asks me to take her to bed and lay down (I had gone back to feeing her to sleep), she asks for 'booby' and instead of feeding she has just been putting her hand on my booby and then she goes to sleep.

I guess she's stopped breastfeeding, but not breast-comforting yet :lol: She still asks for it, but just doesn't seem to want to feed.
I feel surprisingly okay about it. Done in her own time :) Still a bit sad, because it has always been the one thing that I've given her that no one else could (or did, anyway). Not a drop of formula passed her lips, which makes me very proud because that is what I wanted to be able to say :)

Interestingly, she has weaned almost EXACTLY 3 years after conception haha! I nourished her for more than 3 years. 9 months inside, and 2.3years outside.

Awesome work hun! Its still sad though, every now and then I wish DS still BF cause I miss it and he self weaned at 14 months.

Just changed my sig from the breastfeeding toddler thing, to the date. No booby again tonight.
It's a bit weird. To sort of have my body back after three years. Weird. I had this image of me falling apart, being torn away from her, losing the connection. Maybe the realisation that the breastfeeding was not the link, but just part of the link. Having a strong link made extended breastfeeding possible, not the other way around?

Congratulations, BF up til self weaning is a fantastic milestone :D.

I think that is absolutely beautiful that she is still seeking the comfort and closeness. Congrats on an amazing journey :)

Well done to the two of you!!! My DD still loves bbs, even though she hasn't bf for six months. It is special that they remember and appreciate, because we nourished them for so long.

A big :clap: for giving your DD something that so very few children in our society are lucky enough to receive, bm well into their toddlerhood and the ability to choose their own timing as to when to stop. :hug:
