we just bought a new humungous tent yesterday, and we want to start doing regular camping trips, like i used to all the time as a kid.
I'm looking for camping spots in qld and northern nsw that you take your kids to, preferably around some sort of water, but just trying to think of some differnt ones.

We go to Boyds Bay Caravan Park a bit it's only an hour away it is right on the river and you can even launch your boat there too if you have one. The park itself has a great pool, very clean amenities, friendly onsite owners and close to everything. We are actually thinking of going down again real soon (if we can get in).

We really like The Borumba deer park near imbil in Qld, the camping sites are grassy and flat, and right on the water. There's a fair bit for kids to do, kayak hire etc but the childrens playground is a dive lol, they looked like there were building mini golf last time we were there which was when I was around 20 weeks pg so they might have cleaned up the playground? But we love that it's peaceful and green instead of just muddy like many other camping areas and it's got showers and toilets YAY and it's great to have the kiosk incase you've forgotten something or want a treat like an icecream :p Another place we camped at was thunderbird park at Mt Tamborine. The scenery in nice but the camping areas are rocky which is majorly annoying in a tent! Plus it is muddy and most sites are on a slant, again not good in a tent, plus when we were there the bins were over flowing and rowdy neighbours all made for a pretty horrible trip however it would be good for kids if you specified a 'flat' grassy site kwim it's expensive to go looking for the thunderbird egg thingos too which was a bummer because it would have given us something to do. Booloumba and charlie moreland at kenilworth are also good but don't have showers at Charlie Moreland, not sure about Booloumba? Have fun... We LOVE camping! :)
The Styx River near Armidale is absolutely gorgeous.... Gets very cold in the winter but should be nice in summer!

We just had a nice holiday in Yamba at the blue dolphin caravan park, it was DD's idea of HEAVEN! Absolutely great for kids, i would hate to be there in school holidays though, it would be packed solidly! Tons of things for kids from pools with water slides, indoor play centre for bad weather, giant flat screen tv room, jumping pillow, lots of kids playgrounds, outside BBQ areas, go-carts to hire, boats to hire, right on the water and quick drive to beaches. During peak times they have a lot of organised activities and have a little train which rides around the park (DD was devastated it wasn't running as she had seen it on their website and thought she would get a go).The camp kitchen also had a communal fridge, microwave and stove and they had a kids bathroom with a bath and even a little baby bath so it was really easy with little ones.
Yamba is beautfiul, and that caravan park is lovely and yep it gets packed during the holidays especially xmas .... we lived 5 mins from Yamba before moving to QLD and we hope to get back down that way permanently one day.:
a friend of mine heads to Yamba every year and loves it!!! she heads of there every year for Christmas and then home just before it gets way too busy. She keeps talking about how great it is. We have hired a camper trailer and will be heading up the great ocean road from SA back to where we live here in QLD. Can't wait.

North Stradbroke Island? We camped at Cylinder Beach.
We camp at double island point and Minnie water (1/2 hr north of grafton). Both are great for kids. Depends what you want though. We like rough camping ie take your own shower, drop toilets etc and we have a 4wd. We try to go camping at least once a month. I love it! Enjoy your new tent!! :)
