Bubba Mo?

After a bit of research I've decided I like the look of these slings.

Does anyone have any feedback on them, good or bad?

There's also a similar sling called a mini monkey, or something along those lines, does anyone know the difference between this one and a bubba mo?

I love my Bubba Moe sling babe, it's awesome. I got it when DD was 5 months old and wish wish wish I'd got it sooner. So easy to use.

I wear DD on my hip!

But i know a lot of folks here aren't keen on them.

I've just gone through some older threads and it seems that many think that this type of sling is too similar to the one that was recalled, so I think it's back to the drawing board as I really want something for a newborn. Doh!

I don't think Bubba Moe has been recalled - they're fabulous slings! DD spent A LOT of time in her Bubba Moe. She was a terrible day sleeper from about 5 weeks so I wore her most of the time and she loved it! We used it religiously until she was 7 months then she didn't really need it any more. I did use it again in September though (just after she'd turned one) when we went on holidays as it was comfy for her (and me) for her to sleep on the flights. I'm amazed she still fit in it and loved it as she always had.

We started using our Ergo around the 7 month mark.

Bubba Moe are brilliant slings. I highly recommend them!

No, they haven't been recalled, but they do have features similar to the infantino which was recalled in the US. They have a very deep pouch, and very limited adjustability (both because of the buckle shoulder and the padded rails) which can make newborn positioning difficult at worst, and at best, can be uncomfortable for some wearers (especially petite wearers who are often unable to tighten it sufficiently). With a too deep pouch it is more likely that a newborn will slump in a head to chest position which can impede breathing. If they are used very carefully and with full awareness of correct positioning there is no reason why they can't be used safely, but I would not recommend them personally. The mini-monkey is similar, as is the baby rock comfy carry. A good ring sling is much more comfortable for both baby and wearer, and safer too.

Yeah, still use the Bubba Moe, we use snuggle hold or hip hold.

I love our sling and DD loves it too! Although, it's getting a bit hot for it these days. I tend to only use it it we are out and about and she needs a sleep. It was awesome when we went home to the Uk for that reason.

Yeah, i was lent one and then a mate borrowed it to try it out but i have it back again. I have been using the Close Carrier, which i love, and still hoping to get an Ergo but playing around with the Bubba Moe for now

The bubba moe wasn't for us. While DD was a newborn, I was always too nervous of her head slumping into her chest. Plus she had a habit of squirming around and burying her face in the pouch. I tried the hip carry once she got older, but could never get it tight enough to support her shoulders so I still had a good deal of her weight on my arm, which kind of defeats the purpose. I always felt like it was never tight enough (I'm not big but I'm definitely not petite either).

I loved my hug-a-bub while DD was little, even in the summer. I'll still put her in it every now and then when I can't be bothered lugging the pram around.

I've got DH an Ergo sport for Christmas. He and DD love to go for walks with her in the Baby Bjorn but she's getting too big for it now and DH is finding that she is exactly the right height at the moment to be kicking him in the crown jewels :ROFL:

Hehe, the Ergo is in a box, wrapped under the tree and is driving him mad as he has no idea what's in the box nor that they even exist. He keeps saying how sad he is that their days in the Bjorn are numbered...... I can't wait to see his face when they can get out in the Ergo! :)

Their heads shouldn't slump at all if they're in right. I took ours to a baby shop and one of the staff showed me how to position DD in it correctly. I'd been doing it wrong! Once they showed me how to do it our whole Bubba Moe experience changed and it was awesome.

I agree it's probably not for everyone but suspect a lot of mums aren't using it properly. Having an expert adjust it/show you how to use it makes all the difference. I am petite and DH is quite big and we both found it extremely comfortable. Correct positioning of DD in it made all the difference though.

My little one didn't like it when she was younger (preferred the close carrier) but now she can sit up properly i want to try it again with one of the other positions. I tried the hip yesterday which was kinda good on the hip but not so comfy on my shoulder. gonna look up the different holds again on you tube

Snuggle hold is good then Kate, similar to hip but just round towards the front a bit more.

I don't seem to find that I get sore when I wear it (I have seen a lot of folks here say that they do though). Although, if I've had it on for ages and then take it off I feel like I'm floating as DD is getting really heavy! LOL
