School start bonus?

So, apparently the govt have a payment for children who are starting prep or year 7 called a school start bonus?

Does anyone know about this? The website said the school would give parents of enrolled students a voucher at the end of term 4 but I've heard nothing ( our school finishes next week)

Should I ask about it?

I got ours at DD1's prep orientation session last week. However the cheque thing can't be cashed until after Jan 2011 - I will probably lose it by then!!

Our schools post the voucher out. You have to go to the post office after a certain date in Jan to have it cashed.

This must be a Vic thing?

Yeh you cash the voucher after Jan 10 next year.

I will ask at the school on Saturday at the book and uniform swap meet
