A woohoo, a boohoo and a question re 22mo & speech

My woohoo - DS has finally stopped calling me Daddy :dance:

My Boohoo - He now calls me "Boobie". :cry:

So my question - he seems to struggle with the letters M & N. He seems to replace them with a B. Hence the Boobie for mummy. He calls a nappy a "bappy". Cows say "ooooo". He won't say milk at all but says water quite clearly. He has quite a variety of other words and sounds he says regularly and clearly (dog, cat, don't, stop, daddy, poppy, door, car, apple, water, roar etc). Does anyone else's 22mo have this problem? Is it something I should worry about? Or is he just too busy mastering the other sounds to bother with M & N?

I wouldn't be worried about it at that age. DD2 calls a nappy 'dappy'. She's getting better at pronouncing words correctly, but even my 4 year old still can't say some letters 100%.

I wouldn't worry at all. Remember boys tend to learn language skills slower than girls do, he'll catch up in the end ;)

I think it's quite common for toddlers to mispronounce certain letters for a while, I reckon he's just fine.

nup, they come eventually, as frustrating as it is.
M's only just arrived in our house for DS, but DD struggled with L for agggges (like we had munch every day between breakfast and dinner)...she has no troubles now.

His speech is way better than my boy's, and he turns two in about two weeks!

Perhaps I should actually start to worry a bit more!

DS still has issues with certain consonants - I guess it's normal (he speaks very well otherwise).
HE also insisted on calling me nya-nya (milk) for a long time, even though he could say mummy.

i think he's doing fine - both my kids mispronounce some letters still xo

Well I didn't have to wait very long :D He has mastered the letter M and is now calling me mummy. He started late last week and has improved over the weekend. He still gets a bit confused and calls me Boobie but not often now.
